It's very good the 3 series volvo never hit the u.s. I have had 3 volvos go over 300,000 miles. One, my 86' 240gl did 847,540 miles before I gave it to a relative. They got it to 20,000 after the odometer rolled over. Had a 850GLT, stick, loved it. Timing belt went at 267,000 and yes I did replace it at 80,000 intervals. My last one, an s60 did 247,000 miles. No issues till the transmission went after a flush. Replaced it with what was supposed to be a rebuilt transmission. The shop that put it in closed and was sued 3 weeks after I got it installed. It broke again, at 70mph on the turnpike here. Almost died. A criminal transmission shop cost me a beautiful car.

The Donald Sutherland impression from Kelly’s Heros is amazing. Also hilarious impression of the smooth bore 120mm on that Challanger firing, based on how we do things here in the states at the armor training center at Fort Knox, unless that’s a military firing range no one in the UK is going to sanction going full send with a 120 mike mike considering all the liability that’s inherent with an errant HE round 😂

It's a shame they didn't actually shoot the Yugo. OK a kinetic energy round would have just gone through it like a dart through paper, it would have thrown the remnants a fair distance, but for better visuals a HESH round would have made quite a spectacular mess. I guess even back in the 90s the relatively lacklustre by todays standard HSE crowd had their limits 😂

To think that Clarkson would fling another car 25 years later on The Grand Tour's "Carnage A Trois" special. And to also think that Clarkson and May never said the Nissan Sunny was the "Worst Car in the World" for the "Worst Car in the World" DVD special either. 34:15 - Fuck, that was hard for me to watch. I have to agree with you. And Chrysler was hitting a truly sweet spot with the dodge challenger/charger and Plymouth cuda and other variants. The mid 60s Chrysler 300s were really special too. It’s a shame how quickly they crashed and burned after say 74. There was no reason in hell the big 3 couldn’t have designed great looking smaller cars. The only car Pontiac made that looked great after 74 was the firebird, which was designed during the epic era.

That line about the styling of the Nissan Sunny being the same on both sides is stolen from a famous story about legendary Italian car designer Giorgetto Giugiaro seeing the Triumph TR7 for the first time in 1974. Clarkson should do commentaries on his old videos like these with his updated thoughts now. The 355 is better looking than the E-Type? Maybe when it was new it was striking, but now it looks like a mid-90s Ferrari. Good looking car, but the Jag held up better, aesthetically.

I belive the F355 vs E-Type thing is a matter of taste, it depends on your taste of cars The E-Type's design is infinitely more unique though, the F355 is heavily remeniscent of cars like the SW20 MR-2 or the Fiero GT

i agreed with clarkson about the 355 when i was a nipper, thought it was the coolest car to ever exist. but as an adult? all about the f40. can't believe he didn't even touch on it in the video... i guess he was saving it for outrageous.

for me the 458 will always be the prettiest car (modern) they made. Closely followed by the F12 and the LaFerrari. Classic? The 500 Mondial, the 365 Daytona and of course, the 250 GTO!

Well, the Nissan Sunny. Maybe not "THE BEST CAR OF THE WORLD". But I had one. Used it to drive between Essen and Hamburg In Germany every week. It did this job for quite some time. First repair occurred after 140.000 km . Something like 90,000 miles. Great car. Spent quite some time of my life in it. I had a Mercedes 280 TE after it - which was not so reliable. What is good depends pretty much on what you understand by the term "good".

Poor thing. Sweet little car. Doesn't look ugly these days. Just 1980s.

1. Crash into a tree, shot from tank, trebuchet throw - there were some of many more Clarkson's ways to destroy "bad car". 2. I can't wait the moment when soundtrack to entire video (or even Clarkson's home video series) will be out on YT or even Spotify. From my personal perspective, I am unable to find soundtrack from this movie even by searching with "Brian Hodgson and Peter Lincoln" phrase. 3. JC continued to destroy (bad in his opinion) cars in odd ways in movies following "Unleashed on cars", like "Apocalypse Clarkson" and "Clarkson: At Full Throttle", up to "Top Gear".

I care not that it makes me sound old but I wish it were still 1996. I was a senior in high school, captain of the football team, pretty blonde girlfriend, the internet was just starting and it wasn't the evil thing it's become, cars didn't have all these weird doodads on them and there was actually popular music that wasn't rap/hip hop or has that "bend" to it, I considered myself on the left side of politics because the left hadn't yet become the fasict, racist organization it is today which now by default puts me on the right because I'm not insane, Hollywood was still making good films, I could go on almost forever. Even the kids today knows everything sucks. If you asked a teenager in 1996 how life is more than likely they would have had postive things to say. Ask a teenager now and you'll not get the same answer.

''90;s were a pretty good era. I was maybe 15 years ahead of you, but did feel it was a good time with much promise for the future. And the politics... yeah, I was a "bleeding heart conservative" or "liberal light". Look back at Bill Clinton, a democrat beloved by his party. His policies and positions today would make hum a hard-core righty. How have things gone so far to the lunatic fringe in a couple decades???
