That nuclear question fuck me. If anyone fires nuclear weapons anywhere in the world, we are ALL fucked. Why does no one understand this?
@CulturedGrug907 жыл бұрын
Because it's not strictly true. According to simulations: The larget nuclear weapon ever designed, by the USSR. the "tsar bomba" (100Mt) Has a radiation radius of around 7km, fireball radius of around 8 km, Air blast radius at 20psi (capable of destroying concrete buildings) of around 10km, and at 5psi (capable of destroying residential homes etc) of around 21km and the very worst a thermal radiation radius (third degree burns) of around 65km from the blast. Thats your average city. The fallout however, does stretch the damage downwind. But even with that factored in with a blast at 100 megatons, 1,000 rads an hour and a 15mph wind, it still would be limited to 605km maximum downwind cloud distance, with a maximum effective width of 106km, so area affected would be 49,710km2. Thats roughly your average country. www.nuclearsecrecy.com/nukemap/ :)

Because it's not true?

So what you're saying is that according to these simulations on Nuke Mapper, one 100Mt bomb has the capability of wiping out a country but this wouldn't be the end of the world? My apologies if I have this wrong, but I believe your evidence actually suggests that this indeed would be the end of the world as there is not just one 100Mt bomb in existence, but rather thousands ready to be let loose. :)

@matthewcleary68707 жыл бұрын
“The language I used at that meeting was actually here in parliament and it was about encouraging the meeting to go ahead, encouraging there to be a discussion about the peace process,” he said. Asked whether he still regarded Hamas and Hezbollah as “friends”, the Labour leader said: “No. It was inclusive language I used which with hindsight I would rather not have used. I regret using those words, of course.” Corbyn told the committee he was alarmed at reports of antisemitic comments made by Labour members since his election as leader in 2015. He said that appropriate action had been taken by the party’s compliance unit and fewer than 20 activists had been suspended while their cases were investigated. People know that Corbyn talked to the IRA because he did it openly, but at the very same time Corbyn was openly talking to the IRA, the political establishment were conducting secret backdoor deals with them. In 1972 the Tory government of Edward Heath conducted secret negotiations with the IRA. Margaret Thatcher always used to insist that she did not negotiate with terrorists, but in 2011 declassified documents revealed that that's exactly what she did. She negotiated with the IRA in 1981 during the hunger strikes, and the documents detailing the negotiating position of the UK government even featured annotations in her handwriting! Thatcher also gave her personal approval to secret talks with the IRA in 1990 too. So much for her not negotiating with terrorists rhetoric eh?In 1993 the revelation that John Major's government had been conducting secret talks with the IRA created a huge political scandal, with several Tory MPs (who were clearly unaware of Thatcher's secret talks with the IRA) reacting with horror at the revelation that the not negotiating with terrorists line was a total lie. In 2008 it was revealed that the UK government maintained a secret back channel to talk with the IRA for two decades all the way from 1973 and 1993. From 1997 onward Tony Blair's government conducted negotiations with the IRA that eventually led to the Good Friday Agreement, the power-sharing deal and the successful deescalation of the. During this process Tony Blair had secret talks with the IRA in 2010 a Tory peer called David James openly admitted that he had a history of secretly laundering money for the IRA. He still sits in the unelected House of Lords as a Tory peer!

Voted Leave He actually received the Ghandian Peace prize... a prize issued to people who continue the attitude and principles of GHANDI. Because he has managed to bring about peace. He managed to create a dialogue with the IRA. Openly. The Conservatives have had secret conversations with th IRA. Jeremy did it openly. And managed to bring it to a close. Have you seen any terrorist attacks from the IRA lately? No. That's because it worked. Our bombing the middle east is not helping. Look at Manchester. It isn't working. Jeremy has been trying to end the war by getting a conversation going. Tony Blair should be arrested for war crimes.

dragonfly6908 That's understandable but the Conservatives are not going to help anyone - they've already let everyone off with the Credit crunch and put the entire cost onto the public. They're hammering the poor, the vulnerable, they are spending billions abroad, May had her chance with immigration as Home Office and she failed completely to meet her own targets. I truly believe Corbyn is a new kind of politician. May has continually lied - she lied three times about this election, she is hated in Europe and she's single handedly destroying the NHS. Soon all our services will be sold off. She simply does not care and she won't debate anything because she's scared of being challenged. This is the next 5 possibly 10 years sealed with a Tory vote. Choose carefully and put your Blair Brown history aside for one time.

Conservatives have done a good job in fact, have you seen our growth even through the scaremongering of remainers? Growth bigger than Germany for goodness sake. Stop lying. This election will define your future, your community's future and our country's future. Ask your self these questions. Can you afford private health care? Can you afford to send your children or the children in your life you care about in to private education, does your pay far exceed the minimum wage, are you a millionaire? If the answer to these questions are no, why would you vote for a conservative Tory government. Who's Prime objective is to insure the business interests of Britain's million and billionaires. Conservatives: cut public services, under fund the NHS, under pay public servants, cut business taxes for the rich while raising taxes for the working class. Brexit is going to happen, Jeremy Corbyn has said that he wants to make sure he gets the best brexit trade deal for the millions of British citizens not a handful of millionaires. Torys are strong against the weak and weak against the strong. Its up to you to read up on the policies of these parties to ensure you vote for the people who truly have the interest's of you and your loved one's as there core values. Don't allow yourself to be manipulated by tabloid Media, propaganda outlets owned by billion and millionaires. I'm voting labour, I'm voting for Jeremy Corbyn. In an extraordinary attack on his fellow Conservatives, John Major produced a withering assessment of leading members of Vote Leave, calling their campaign deceitful, untrue, depressing, awful and “verging on the squalid”. On the NHS: "Michael Grove had wanted to privatise the NHS, Boris Johnson wished to charge people for health services and Duncan Smith advocated moving to a social insurance system" “The NHS is about as safe with them as a pet hamster would be with a hungry python,” Sir John Major former Prime Minister, Conservative Party 2016.

I hope you don't believe that all of these so called "Labour policies and promises" will all be implemented if they get in power do you?. It is called "promising the earth" so we can just get in power. Even Emily Thornberry questioned taxing people more that earn over £70,000.
@capybaragames3477 жыл бұрын
Can you trust any politician??? I go off policies because I can see what would be the best possible outcome and worst possible outcome if one party gets in. I feel that Labour's policies will benefit me more in the best possible outcome. It won't harm me as much as conservatives if the worst possible outcome comes into fruition. Also the poor are taxed more than the rich in this country and labour is just saying that tax should be based on how much you earn. Therefore the more you earn, the more tax you pay which is a lot fairer then just taxing people who earn £20,000 or under a year. Remember nurses and others who earn that much end up in food banks and become a liability on the economy so its better to tax them less so they can contribute to a better economy. I have done economics and its better for everyone if tax is made fairer
@dragonfly69087 жыл бұрын
What I disliked about Labour was their refusal to apply a benefit cap and they were quite happy to give people £26,000 to stay at home and obviously there was no incentive for them to look for work because it was unlikely that they could get a job that paid the same. I am pleased that the Conservatives finally got a grip and we now have a benefit cap. Also the personal tax allowance under the last Labour government was a pathetic £6,475 and it is now £11,500 under the Conservatives. Also the Labour policy of £10.00 an hour must have employer's shaking in their boots and they will be looking for ways to reduce staff so unemployment will increase. Also there were food banks under the last Labour Government and they didn't see it as a problem or even a bad thing because they did nothing about it. As good as some of Labour's policies appear to be I have lived under a Labour government and they left this country in a terrible mess and even left a "sorry their is no money left" letter on a desk, lol.

I think Jeremy Corbyn has got a real chance of helping everyone in this country, I am really impressed how far he has come, since he had to fight for the leadership of the party, He has become more sure of himself and it seems like he is starting to relish the chance as he can see it is possible to make a big difference, He needs to continue doing TV interviews like this and engage voters and make them aware that your vote does count and not voting is not an option, I never thought we would get a chance to see a coalition or an outright Labour win but i am genuinely excited for the potential change that Jeremy could bring to this country, I think all the negative press about him is just not true, Have an open mind do your research, watch his interviews see what he has to say to you and what he thinks the potential of this country could be, Decide for yourself and vote for the party that has the most policies that will affect your life and your families lives for the better, When he became leader of the Labour party, I thought it won't ever come to a general election so what is the point he will be in opposition for the rest of his career, But we started the ball rolling by voting out of Europe, the side effect of this was we got rid of Cameron, May came in and was advised to have a general election as fraud had been commited in the last general election with the expenses scandal, So if they win they can say the scandal is not valid anymore as they won without cheating this time, I cannot sit back and not vote, we may only have one chance in our lifetimes but we can make a difference, We need to vote Labour, This is our one and only chance to get the Prime Minister we all deserve, this country deserves it hopefully it will be a landslide victory for Jeremy, We need him in power to start fixing this broken country, who's with me.

I'm sort of the same, however we need to recognize that Scottish Labour are pretty much finished up here. They're not going to win seats up here. So my advice to you? Check your local polling. If Labour is close to winning? Vote for them. If the SNP is ahead (and Conservatives close behind) vote for them. Vote tactically to make sure the Tories don't win. And if it is an SNP representative you end up with, contact them. Let them know you don't like this anti-Corbyn rhetoric. It's absolutely fine for the SNP to want to win in Scotland, but they shouldn't put down Labour in England. They need to stop being so anti-Corbyn, because at the end of the day, that will put May back in #10. Hell, contact the SNP MP you have now and tell them you're not happy with it. It's what I'm doing.

Love this man. I’m not proud of us losing two elections under him, I’ll always be sad that he didn’t win those two elections. But he’s been the victim of bad media coverage, lies and smears from the right wing press which made him very unpopular with the voters. I’m not just blaming the media for Jeremy failing to win the two elections that he fought, I blame his own MPs in his party as well who have spent every day undermining him and refusing to support his leadership. If it wasn’t for their disgraceful behaviour a year before the 2017 election, Jeremy would’ve started that campaign in a much better position in the opinion polls and he would’ve won. But he started that campaign miles behind the Tories because his own MPs tried to remove him as leader in June 2016 and there was a leadership election. Labour MPs will never be forgiven for what they did to Jeremy in 2016 because that move to remove him as leader is one of the reasons he failed to get a majority in 2017.

Those principals are worth fighting for? Do you want a skeptical nation that lives in fear or a nation that stands proud of what it represents which is a nation that wants to change the world? If you want to remain in the status quo, then so be it, you're satisfied with how life is going and haven't witnessed what it's like to be at the bottom of the ladder. For the rest of us, we want something different. I believe Corbyn represents people like myself who are tired of the same old bullshit, who are tired of working all week to not have any savings and being under constant scrutiny of breaking any laws because of the nanny state we currently live in. Does that make me delusional? Sure you may think it's a bad time for the call for nuclear disarmament but I believe there's no better timing. I'm not going to judge this man because he doesn't want to kill innocent civilians in a country he has no attachment to, I respect the man even more for this decision. What are these drastic economical policies that would ruin you? Are you an entrepreneur who's exploiting his workers? What other non-drastic economical policies do other parties offer you that has twisted your arm? Considering that the majority of Labour still consists of New Labour/Blairites/Tory Lites, I wouldn't be surprised if his party would be more supportive if Tony Blair was the one leading the campaign. Blair tarnished the image of Labour and it's Corbyn's job to reinvent that image and bring back the old socialist ideologies that Labour was founded on. If you're going to base your opinions on disapproval ratings then you're more delusional. Also what's wrong with open boarders? Britain has always had open boarders since the dawn of time, and our culture has been shaped by it.... or are you afraid of the oogey boogey refuge- wait a second, immigrant coming over here, stealing our jobs, doing it better than us in a second language?
@DFxAngelz7 жыл бұрын
The Tories failed to win a majority in 2010 and they scraped home on a wafer thin majority in 2015. Since that election they have been defeated in 70% of parliamentary byelections held, including losing a majority of 23,000 in Richmond. In addition, they have been defeated in every single mayoral contest including London and they have lost over 50 council seats. Labour, meanwhile, has won 60% of byelections held, half of those with increased majorities. Labour has won every mayoral contest and also increased its national share of the vote by 4% in the local elections. Yet the polls claim the Tories are sitting at 50 points. I have never heard such bollocks in my life. The polls do not reflect in any way, shape or form the disastrous electoral record of the Conservative Party. The polling claims are simply laughable. May has had a rush of blood to the head and has made a fatal miscalculation. One based on desperation and on foolishly believing the polls. The Tory propagandists who take the public for fools will not decide the outcome of this election, neither will the chattering classes, neither will the newspapers, neither will the BBC or Sky. It is the British public that will decide who will be the next prime minister of the country. That is their exclusive prerogative.

in the interview he talks about the average ceo gets paid 180 x the average worker but then earlier in the week labour implied your one of the rich and should pay more at 70k (its already 42%) which is only 6 times the minimum wage. So is it me or labour lumping 7x minimum wage earners with the 180x?? As for tax rises just let this sink in with the exception of corporation tax, tax is already higher than most countries and countries that even coryn supports at that. For example top rate of income tax here 45% (there is a hidden band of 60%) but 'Socialist' bolvia its only 25% And as for oligarchs why did corbyn not refer to the death of the multi billionaire duke of westminster last year? But routinely condems the small cut in estate duty?? Or take Mcdonnel saying he would strip Richard Branson of his knighthood but not target his wealth?? P.s I agree with his anti war stance though.

Or take Hugo charvez left Venezuela with a top rate of income tax of only 35% (yet corbyn complains about the 45% issue) And like I said why did Corbyn ignore the duke of westminster issue last year if he is so legit?? I will eat my hat if you can find a reference because I looked on his twitter/facebook last year and could not find him mentioning him. I could see why the media would not cover him mensining him but on his own facebook/twitter there is no excuse for refering to it. Let alone in the commons.

Given recent events, a heavy predicted defeat in the polls gives me great hope that Labour will win the bloody thing. Noam sends his regards, Mr Marr.

I am shocked at Andrew Marr's interrogation and biased questioning of Jeremy Corbyn rather than asking about policies and what voting for Labour means. This is a direct contradiction to the way he interviewed Teresa May!

After this interview the BBC news made it into something really negative and showed it on tv over and over again all day.
@t8147 жыл бұрын
mehshaz The BBC is biased. When reporting on Labour's policy for free school meals to be funded by taxing private schools which are essentially private businesses, they interviewed several parents who were against this idea and then one private school headteacher who was for it. They didn't mention that private schools are a private business or that they only teach 7% of children out of the children in this country. Nor did they interview parents or teachers from state schools. Right now, the media are trying to associate Trump with Corbyn (the BBC did a news report on this. They put a big picture of Trump and Corbyn together then photoshopped Trumps red campaign hat on Corbyn's. They then did a report on fake news. These people have no shame. But you won't see them put up the very real picture of Trump and Theresa holding hands) except Trump was never anti establishment. He's like Clinton but not presidential. The only reason Trump got so much media was so that Clinton could look good next to him. The establishment didn't want Sanders, who had strong support and high approval ratings everywhere, to become President so they barely reported anything on him and ridiculed him a little for being old. The media here have rarely interviewed him but repeatedly reported news from Tories and Blairites bad mouthing him but never him which would be fair reporting. When asked to react to May's snap election speech, all they could ask him was about losing the election and standing down. Although he's second in the polls, they say Labour has zero chance of winning while claiming Libdems who are third in the polls may have a chance. Now they spent 20 minutes asking him about how eager he is to kill when they know he's anti war and that Conservatives are pro war. They didn't ask anything else even though Labour have released a lot of policies covering more pressing matters such as education and employment. The Tories have repeatedly broken election pledges and the media just sweeps over it. May repeatedly lies in Parliament and in speeches about how much she's saved the country and the media don't bat an eyelid. Now the criminal mass murderer and warmonger Tony Blair has publicly endorsed not only the Conservatives but also the third placers Libdems because they're very similar to the Conservatives (hence the coalition). That's why the Libdems who rarely get a mention have been getting so much attention and support from the establishment so that they become the official opposition which means nothing since they're completely useless. Even when they were in power. Birds of feather. #VoteLabour #JC4PM

The interviewer is being ridiculous - you cant expect corbyn to give decisive answers on terror situations with minimal information and context, decisons are discussed with advisors and committees and informed rational actions are taken. It is not a yes or no moment.

NO, he is an idiot and has no clue how to deal with the working class in the UK. 4 new bank holidays ? That's fine for a salaried politician but not the self employed or those on zero contract. I can't afford a day off.

An actual human being and a leader! I've also never seen media come at a reasonable politician as hard and making themselves look absolutely ridiculous. He's says what majority of people want regardless of which party they support.

His answer to what he would write to military commanders in the event of his death was "follow orders when given". He doesn't even understand what he's signing off on, how would they follow his orders if he's dead? It's borderline comical. Honestly can't believe people can't see this man's shortsighted idiocy.

Im impressed by Jeremy Corbyn in this interview, and recent interviews. He seems far more leader-like and much more confident within answers; whilst still coming across as a genuine man. On a side note, I've never came across a genuine, kind tory. Every single tory I've came across has been a horrible, rude, selfish person.

I never watch interviews between Jeremy Corbyn & Marr, they give me headaches. Marr is a ghastly man, prejudiced & so obviously bias. Noam Chomsky summed him up to his face during an interview some years ago & he was so right. Marr is a servant of the establishment, just look at the swines supercilious expression compared to Jeremy Corbyns, who oozes confidence and is so in control compared to the BBCs chief Pratt.

I voted for him, I believe in a lot of what he says BUT he wasn't measured enough and majorly spooked the horses. He just didn't get that. There were things people needed to hear and he just wouldn't say them. Here we are all these years later and the uk usa and the world in a mess. People are afraid of Russia north korea Iran and China amongst others and trump wasn't and isn't a reasonable man so they didn't feel corbyn could do what he said
