Unfortunately I found this song a few months before my dog got sick, and now it can't bare to listen to it. It has become the anthem of our last days together and though those memories should be good ones, they are just pure heartbreak. I loved this song for the short while I knew it as beautiful.
@starrytay5 жыл бұрын
This is such a good example of classic musical standards vs. contemporary, modern musical theater. Both are beautiful and well done in their own ways, but you’d never find the classical, warm style of the original iconic golden age number written into anything in today’s broadway shows, whereas this version is exactly the feel most composers look toward now and what current up and coming generation is interested. It’s crazy how much the art form can change over the years, for better AND for worse.

The title is R AND H goes pop, i feel that means it’s gonna be remade into a pop song which is why it doesn’t sound like the original. He's an excellent singer, but this is not the song. It's not even really a good pop version of the song. Richard Rodgers was known to be a stickler about any liberties being taken with his music, even slight rhythmic variations. I think we can say with some confidence that he would have loathed this. I cannot see the point of this performance of the . . . well, I can't say "this performance of the song," as it's not a performance of the song.
@deweydjb5 жыл бұрын
Yup. It should be called Hammerstein goes pop, because they are ignoring the composer. It's pretty though and his voice is great, but it's a new song with familiar lyrics.

@26mandys5 жыл бұрын
To the people who are bothered by melody and lyric changes, the setting of the video and the fact that it wasn’t recorded live: Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein were creative people, so hopefully they would have taken it as a compliment, that people would love what they wrote so many years ago, were inspired to build off of it and create something new. This may inspire people, who haven’t heard their work, to go and listen to it. I love that even though some of the melody and lyrics are shuffled around, the spirit of what the song is about remains the same. Jeremy, Ben and Nathan created the feeling of the song without hay fields and cattle and sunshine. How you feel about a place or a time, is in your state of mind. The video is about a concept, it’s not about perfect lip syncing. Stop being critical and just enjoy it for the lovely thing it is. I think it’s all absolutely gorgeous.
