Paula Vennells claims to be truly sorry about what happened to these people. She's a liar, but on this occasion she's telling a half truth. She is sorry, but it's because she got found out, not because of the consequences of her lies on so many innocent people. Her and the rest of those involved in this scandal should go to prison.

Why has the post office bosses & auditors / investigators not been held accountable??? Why has the government still not brought criminal charges against both of these organisations!!! This has been 100% covered up, both the post office & IT Company knew there was bugs in the horizon system & yet the post office continued bringing criminal charges against people, despite the IT Company notifying them in writing that a second bug had been detected, bringing horizons shortcoming figures into dispute! (Internal Documents were discovered by panorama stating this) The post office knew it was the system but rather than admitting fault they got around the law because they were the sole investigators & prosecutors, by burying vital evidence that brought into question the reliability of there system as no one was holding them accountable!!! Prime example of why no organisation should be allowed to bring criminal cases to court regarding them personally, all criminal cases should be done by an impartial 3rd party investigation & prosecutors, ie this should have been a police investigation from day one & maybe this mess wouldn't of happened to begin with!!! Absolutely disgusting!!! I hope the government has learned from this & stripped the post office of all criminal investigation & prosecution rights!!! And also the question needs to be asked..... what happened to the hundreds of thousands of pounds the post office stole from these innocent people!!! Where did all the money go from the non existent shortfalls the system created that they made hundreds of people repay.... surely the post offices annual financial audits must have shown a massive increase in profits compared to profits prior to the system, post office bosses 100% knew the system was at fault, absolutely no way they didn't... where did all that money they stole from there employees go ...... bet its in the pockets of the very bosses that have covered this up over the past 20 odd years!!! Absolutely disgusting!!!

Well said! From day one investigates of theft etc which could lead to a court case & criminal record should be handled by the police & a forensic accountant, which would of been an impartial party, who would of clearly seen from day one that it was the post office themselves at fault & not the thousands of people they victimised & bullied!!! The issue is, when I'm not mistaken, that it started at magistrates (small claims) court, the rules for presenting evidence are different and during that period big companies can sit it out and strategically show or omit evidence as such. It should have never remained as a 'drips and draps cases' at the beginning... It had to go to crown, then high court

I am in the software industry since year 2000 and there are no such thing as 100% perfect system. Especially when the system need to be used by human and the hardware reliability are not 100% fault tolerance. I have developed and maintain system more complex than the Fujitsu Horizon IT system. Many error can be cause by data entry or failure in hardware like network or hard disk. In order for any system to be robust, there should be a build in error recovery system to allow correction of wrong data. Operator can report to their supervisor about the error. The supervisor validate the operator error report. Then the supervisor key in the correct data and send the change request for Manager to approve the data correction. All transactions including error recovery are in system log files for auditors to investigate for any discrepancy.

I would campaign for him to be in the House of Lords for sure. We have never been in greater need of integrity in power. We'll done to him for refusing one of these ridiculous honours, I would tell them to Foxtrot Oscar too. What an inspirational man !

Where are you Mr KING of England - eating eggs and bacon in your palace?

Read this: Commenting on the compensation, Read said: "Our efforts to rectify the wrongs of the past include paying full and fair compensation supported by our shareholder, the UK Government'' That's right folks, taxpayers will be the ones paying compensation. These dogs need their arses jailed and financially penalised, personally.

Indeed - but they haven’t got the billions that it’s going to cost. I do think they should be prosecuted and jailed where appropriate.
@CL20055 ай бұрын
@flipperth1 it won't be billions, but agree. In the very least they must be forced to give back the portion of their bonuses that were awarded based on their 'performance' in the enquiry. But really they should be giving back those bonuses in full over whatever period it turns out to be. That would be a start.

I’ve been watching the ITV drama based on the Post Office scandal as well as listening to stories from various victims and it just gets grimmer and grimmer every time I listen. What those poor people went through is absolutely unimaginable!!! I just feel so sad for them all. I really hope and pray that they all get recompensed 1000 fold because that’s the very least they deserve quite frankly. The management who accused the Post Office post masters of theft, when they’d clearly NOT stolen a penny are just evil as far as I’m concerned. The word corporate psychopaths springs to mind when I think about the behaviour management demonstrated. An awful lot of questions need to be answered here, specifically why Horizon was allowed to exist at all when the software was obviously faulty. I simply have so much to say I honestly can’t tell you. Justice needs to be served for sure. These bosses need to face exactly the same justice their post master’s Served. Whether or not that will actually happen remains to be seen. I so desperately want a positive outcome for this horrendous situation. I’m not holding out much hope right now but I await the unfolding of this story. Let’s just wait and see what happens hey?!!

Nichola is absolutely right. What the post office say they will do and what they actually do are two different things

Either the country of my childhood didn’t ever exist … always a possiblity … or the country has become increasingly corrupt; I suspect the latter.
