What made this run so impressive and fun was how everyone was contributing to the team, guys like Novak, Fields, Jefferies, Tyson Chandler all had a role during this winning stretch. However, all the fun went out the window when Melo came back and it became all about him and iso ball. This was probably the most fun I had watching the Knicks since the Ewing '90s days.

i saw the same dynamic....Melo comes back and its like "The big dog is back...we're going back to what gets me mine even if we start losing and quit having fun." Linsanity was everybody playing loose and hard and for each other (with a little bit of swag).

I'm hardly a Lin fan, but Lin is the type of guy who see through teammates more than themself. Everyone have it's most comfortable spot and timing. Lin just know where it is for everyone. NBA are full of superhuman but lack of real point guard nowadays due to unique rules. Most people like superstars dunking rather than winning.

It was more jealousy than racism. I don't know about the fans, but a lot of the black players in the league couldn't stand how much attention he was getting. What they don't understand is he was doing it for the NY Knicks, the biggest media market in the league thereby creating the most noise. They couldn't understand y he was getting more attention than them. They also didnt understand how big it was for an Asian player dominating for one of the biggest teams. Unlike black Americans all of the Asian community united in support for Lin, not just Chinese people but Japanese, Philippino, Thai damn it even Indians were excited. Thereby creating more noise which drove more hate towards Jeremy Lin. Anyway it was a great run, good memories for him. Hopefully the next Asian success won't have to deal with as much hate

I wish he could have played his entire career w/the Knicks with D'Antoni as coach. Lin really flourished in his system. No other coach really gave him the same type of freedom to run the offense. That being said, he still qualifies as an all-time favorite Knick for me in that 35 game stretch that we were so blessed to experience. Thanks Jeremy!🏀❤💯

Lin's days with the Knicks were numbered after D'Antoni left, in March. I too had wished Jeremy could have stayed, but fate stacked a lot of things against that from happening. This includes, again D'Antoni leaving, then the Knicks told Jeremy he could browse for another team when they should have signed him right away. And because of that hesitation, Houston was able to make a poison pill offer. Jeremy did ask his agent to contact Houston if they could lower their offer but his agent refused because lowering the offer means less commission on his agent, so that itself is another reason stacked against Jeremy. Then of course, Knicks could not make him an offer. Many NY fans got mad at Lin for choosing Houston, not knowing yet back then that Knicks never gave him an offer at all. Dolan did say he will match any offer, but he reneged on that once he saw the poison pill. There were other things such as the unspoken & rumored envy by Melo & even JR Smith. What Dolan & Knicks may have not realized back then is if they gave him an offer, any offer, Lin may have stayed. And because of the hype of Linsanity, the luxury tax could have been paid in return by all the tickets & merchandising from all that hype. Of course, in order for that to happen though, is Lin had to stay on top of his game the next season. We will never know now what could have happened.

My knick fandom was wanning at that point and Linsanity was like a shot in the arm which got me excited about those guys again. Also, I've always loved underdogs, and Jeremy Lin was like the ultimate underdog! He was so fun to watch and root for! I really hate that some guy's egos were too big to accept him--that just sucks! And D'Antoni leaving really altered the trajectory of his career. Those 35 games were bittersweet. And some of my favorite knick highlights which I've been a fan of since '84. I wish they would've keep D'Antoni, traded Melo and built around Jeremy.🏀🏀🏀💯

Here's my wall of text, lol ...You probably already know this but what's funny was there was that rumor that Melo had something to do with D'Antoni leaving was actually true & finally revealed by D'Antoni himself in 2017. Melo had said he would not stay as a Knick the next season if Mike would stay, because Mike favored plays for Jeremy instead of him. So, just to make the Knicks feel better about themselves, Mike resigned, as the Knicks somehow favored Melo, probably because they bought him at high dollar & did not want to waste that money, go figure. Years later, Mike was interviewed about Linsanity & he said those were one of his best & fun days as a coach. As you said, Linsanity got you back into the NBA. Now me, as a Blazers fan, it finally became the opposite a couple years ago. I had been a Portland fan since 1980, but even became more fanatic when they got to the conference in 1990 & 1992. Drexler is/was my favorite NBA player of all time. But when they acquired Melo a couple years ago, due to Lillard asking for him, I was very disappointed because of how Melo somehow ruining Linsanity. But before that, there was actually TWO rumors of Jeremy going to Portland back in 2019, of which both rumors did not come true & that disappointed me prior to the acquisition of Melo. You would think that 2 rumors would make something come true even more, but here it did not. When Melo signed on with the Blazers, that was the final nail in the coffin for me & I quit being a Blazers fan. Melo was already in semi-retirement & Lillard brought him back into the league. I just felt betrayed, lol, when I thought they were going to get Jeremy but instead got Melo. Oh the irony. Today, Melo has left the Blazers after a couple years to sign on with LA, I think. You would think he would stay longer with the Blazers, so as to be grateful to them for bringing him back into the league. Anyway, people forget that during Linsanity, Jeremy was still just a rookie, yet he played like a veteran. Lin was criticized even further when he played against the Heat for the first time, which the critics said finally stopped Linsanity. But again, what they forget was that Jeremy was just a rookie, playing against the Big 3 (James, Wade, Bosh), who all 3 were already 10-year veterans. It was unfair for people to say that he got clobbered by the Heat when they forgot he was just a rookie playing against a stacked veteran Heat team. Anyway, we will never know what could have been if Jeremy stayed in NY. I hope he returns to the NBA someday before it's too late, i.e. age. If not, that's ok too, we shall see what the future holds for him after player retirement as well. He could come back as an NBA coach or he could stay in the CBA, or whatever.

I think it is a more of a indication of what playing under a right system can make their production better. With Melo, Jared just basically a hustle player without getting any touches BC of Melo's iso. Where with Lin, he got open mid range shot and he played his normal hustle defense. So he became a productive player in this system.

That's because he was still a rookie. So that meant he was still unsure of what was going on. People forget that sometimes, because he was doing so great during Linsanity that it looked like he was already a pro veteran in the league with many many years. He only had one crappy season of play before 2012, that's it.

As much as he was already aggressive on court, a part of his religious upbringing sort of held him back. Turn the other cheek, so to speak. Until people realize what it means to be kind to one another, that sort of mentality does not hold well in high-competitive sports. Sure, there's that thing called sportsmanship, but that's nothing compared to being a real Christian, which brings it up a notch to the point that it looks like you're not any more aggressive than the other players. I'm sure there were other Christians on court, but Jeremy's devoutism was a notch higher. He was always thanking & praising the Creator for his on-court heroics, especially in public & in interviews. You never really saw that with the other players on court in all the 75 years of the league, plus the ABA before it. I'm sure there may have been a couple examples but they have been buried & forgotten in the past & not as memorable as Jeremy's. And the fact was he never really argued or fought back when he was unnecessarily flagrantly-fouled & refs never fully called those fouls. There were a few cases in many viewer's observations over the years where a flagrant on him would have been called a regular foul. And a regular foul would have not been called. Yet you never saw him get angry or fight another player. Perhaps it was also the Asian cultural thing in him, who knows. One thing though, he did stand up to Kobe Bryant, when they were texting & stuff as teammates. Any one friend of Kobe's were always "Yes Men" with Kobe, but Jeremy did not want that kind of servitude mentality. In the end, Kobe fully respected that as no one other player had stood up to him before like Jeremy had.
