you make a very good point. Raptor defenders were either hacking him to force FTs or guarding him closely to make most of his shots "contested". Sure there were a few defensive lapses, including that "why, sure I'll let you come into our zone and make an easy basket" defensive facepalm early on in the game. But most of Mamba's shot-by-shot achievements here were gritty and hard-earned.

I remember being in college and playing on a basketball court and hearing that this game just happened and thinking there's no way that can be right. It's just mind blowing. I never thought we'd see anything in the modern era even approach Wilt's scoring record, and here's Kobe's second-half performance being 55. I remember he got seriously injured last time he played the Raptors and this was his first game back against them. So, you know with his mentality that he had been visualizing destroying them and getting his pay back. And that's exactly what happened.

This team was trash, they had no choice. Or I should say, Kobe had no choice. Aside from Odom, Chris Mihm and Smush Parker were the only guys who could give you 10 points on a given night, think about it. This is just a fraction of what he was going through back then. There were a lot of games when he literally had to outscore the opposing team on his own for multiple quarters when he was on the floor in order that they could have a chance to win. I got a tribute tattoo for Kobe tatted on me (I only got 3 tattoos) for multiple reasons. I grew up watching Kobe and and beings Kobe Bryant fan (I was born in 1997), Kobe gave us joy to watch. Kobe reminds us to have confidence. Kobe as a person was so special to watch, from him being a teenager and meeting his beautiful wife Vanessa, to getting in the NBA draft and being the top 5 leading scorers of all time, to him beings great dad I aim to have one day for my future children and to him supporting women’s basketball and retiring but still has so much love for the game so he coaches his daughter and beautiful young girls and continues to give kids someone to look up to even when he’s not physically here with us anymore. Overall, my tattoo is a reminder of someone great who touches my heart & to always have the mamba mentality to keep going, no excuses, don’t give up and like Kobe said it’s not about the destination that’s special it’s the journey that’s special. My tattoo for Kobe is something I cna forget look at and be reminded of so many things but over be reminded of an irreplaceable human who motivates me and many others to keep going for Heather you sim to achieve and more. We miss you Kobe. Till this day I still cry about you and your babygirl Gigi and the world has Vanessa and your girls back forever. We will take care of them from earth Kobe as you take care of them from heaven, we love and miss you Kobe & Gigi. ❤️💔🙏🏽

When you hear the stories from NBA legends that played with him talk about how he absolutely outworked everyone still gives me goose bumps. They were the best of the best and still couldn't believe how hard Kobe worked off the court. Nobody will ever be as dedicated to his craft as Kobe was to his.

Now thats a stretch. Lots of people are extremely dedicated to their crafts, Kobe just happened to be very gifted at basketball.

@@drhexagonapus he wasnt though he was below avg/benchwarmer and committed himself to outwork his competition years ahead. that being said yeah there are definitely others equally dedicated to their craft but if you said no basketball player will ever be as dedicated I would agree
@drhexagonapus2 жыл бұрын
@@eliaswalter261maybe, maybe not. Still, there are billionaires that exist so that goes to show he wasn't unique in his dedication to his craft. Certainly very talented and iconic, but I definitely wouldn't go as far as to say that he's more dedicated to his craft than anyone else will ever be. Even within his craft I'm not sure you could say that, is he more dedicated than MJ? I have no idea if he was or how you'd even measure such a thing.

My favorite jumpshot. Looks so satisfying and effortless, which shows how much work went into it. Overall, the way he played basketball was just mesmerizing. Rest in peace 💜💛

I'll never forget this night. I was 15 years old and I put on NBA TV and it showed the box score for that game. It said 81 points for Kobe. I thought it was a mistake. I called my cousin who was sleeping. I woke him up because I needed to share the news with someone. I didn't witness the game. I was watching the Nets lose to the Jazz. Been a Nets fan forever, but have always been a huge Kobe fan. RIP legend.

Negative people like you are the worst. 1) I was watching my favorite team. 2) The game wasn’t nationally televised. Only regionally in LA and Toronto 3) I didn’t even know they were playing until after. Take your negativity elsewhere.
