I did find Mr. Piven's perspective as a 'non-car-guy' interesting. He seems blissfully unaware of how much time it takes to be one though. No spouse, no cars... I bet he gets a lot done.

This show (I know the OG cast) had the strongest opening as a car pod (Solid 3 Episodes) with a great way to present via the iphone live feed, solid AV, and concise. Then it Jeremy pivots to your usual 50-100K subs celebrity prop fluff.

Love Jeremy Piven as Ari and other roles, but the first 24 minutes of Spike’s CAR Radio was only entertainment stuff. More Jonny and Zuckerman, less celebs. Even Seinfeld always veers away from entertainment talk, to discuss cars. And yes I know this is how the show started years ago on the porch, but it evolved over time.

I'm one of the people who complains about the amount of ads on the show. SCR was one of the few podcasts I used to actually listen to the ads, because they were genuinely funny. Now I generally fast forward through all of them. I've been listening to the show since about episode 1, and I miss the old days of pure car talk. I get that the show is free, but there are also about eleventy billion podcasts out there, and it's not difficult to find other podcasts about cars. If the number of ads remain this high, and the content shifts from cars to celebrity interviews this listener/viewer is out.

Wow, all these unappreciative comments. I enjoy the occasional celeb interview, going into topics like comedy and acting and Hollywood. I’m in the middle of rewatching Entourage so it was great learning more about Jeremy. Looking forward to seeing The Performance. Podcasts are by their nature narrowcasting. That means that listeners often feel like they get a closer connection to the hosts than when listening to radio/watching tv. Following on from this, when our favorite podcasts change or do something listeners don't like, they let the podcasters know. It's not that we are unappreciative, it's that we expect a certain type of content and when we don't get it, we let our hosts know. The show is after all called Spike's CAR radio. If Seinfeld suddenly started to feature a doctor called "House" who solved medical mysteries, the viewers would react.
