The world record is 16.5 feet. The towers are damn near exactly 16 feet apart. Unless he landed the landing exactly on the edge, there is a good chance the water tower gap is the record. And it is fuckin terrifying to even think about. The most amazing part is how Wray gapped that thing while carting around those massive brass balls.

I think that water tower to water tower boardslide (Clive Dixon? Don't feel like digging down two years into back thrashers... ) was nuttier, that said they made immediate reference to this Jeremy wray trick in the caption... I used this clip to learn to ollie, lol. This was on a 411 ad on the first Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and I just played it over and over until I understood how an ollie worked.

My heart rate goes up just by listening to his story. Looks like every sketchy thing that could happen happened - except for actually tripping over a rock. The tail of the board getting chipped before the last try and him having to press it back in a "drop in" position sounds like a nightmare.

Not really. That's not how physics works. You just have to haul ass and time the jump. What the board does is irrelevant to clearing the gap. You could even leave it behind entirely as long as YOU go.

I think it's closer to 15 feet. 16 feet at the bottom but the tops have some overhang caps that subtract distance.

That ollie was epic! And i rarely compliment an ollie. I think those small rocks got there in the winter (if there is snow) to clear the roof that it wont break, or otherwise inspect.
