People make the mistake of not knowing they have become nose-blind after having the fragrance on for 30 or so minutes and then they write an angry review online. It happens mostly to stronger fragrances. The stronger the smell, the faster you’ll become nose-blind or nose-fatigued. I think if you can smell your fragrance on your clothes the next morning then you definitely know that it lasts and that you were just nose-blind. I have scents that bleed onto my clothes from my skin and make my shirts smell delicious.

The spray test is the only reliable way to know. The first fragrance I ever bought was Azzaro Wanted EDT. Virtually everyone online will tell you that it underperforms, but I've had other people notice 5-6 hours later when I only used 2 sprays. For me, once a fragrance house releases TWO poorly performing fragrances back to back, I never buy another fragrance from that house or even bother paying attention to them. Also, when they reformulate a fragrance and make it weaker, I lose respect and forget that fragrance and the house as well. A house like Jacques Bogart, Amouage, Azzaro, Aramis, Fragrance One, Tom Ford... Almost all of these fragrances have great performance and longevity. I sometimes trust reviewers on KZbin, Fragrantica and Basenotes, but in the end I trust my own experiences and in-store testing that I do myself.

The last tip is like gold...you often read in forums, Creed for instance has a bad performance, after 1 hour there is no smell left, taht message gives me a little smile... for people who like to smell themselves again and again, take a box of coffee powder or beans with you, and you will notice your fragrance again :D PS: Creed Aventus for me is the holy grail of fragances, spray it and you feel like a 12/ 10 instantly :D
