They dont cast who deserves it, they cast whoever is trending atm, therefore they think it will put more asses in seats
@shawnfields2369Ай бұрын
@@systemofadown945 And yet, they're almost ALWAYS wrong. As good as the Shrek movies were, only the second one REALLY is better than the first one. I loved all 4 Shrek movies(without the dumbass memes), but they didn't rely on star power. They were just good movies. Sure, they do have stars obviously, Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Antonio Banderas, the tall blonde lady from the Charlie's Angels movies, but at least those movies are fun to watch. But the second one is the best one. But you could sit down with your family and friends and watch all 4 Shrek movies if you wanted to. And still enjoy them. But this movie? It doesn't feel like Garfield. It feels and looks like, a poorly done SNL skit with Crisps Rat Ranch cast as Garfield. And as much as I enjoyed his work as Star Lord, he is most definitely NOT a good Garfield. And he was personally chosen by both the creator of Garfield, Jim Davis, AND the director of this affront to Garfield, who'd given us underrated masterpiece movies like "Cats Don't Dance", "Chicken Little"(hey, even if YOU may not like Chicken Little, I thought it was great), and...freaking "The Emperor's New Groove"! And he thought the guy from Jurassic World, was a good fit for a lazy, grumpy cat, who loves lasagna, and hates Mondays? Well, he does put in a lazy performance, so maybe they're onto something?
@BatsuOhnoАй бұрын
@@shawnfields2369 To say those movies didnt rely on star power when each movie was absolutely STACKED with celebs of which they jammed down our throats during marketing is wild.
@shawnfields2369Ай бұрын
@@BatsuOhno No, what I'm saying is, that the Shrek movies DID rely on star power, but mainly the stars like: Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz(remembered her name), and Antonio Banderas. As well as the "stars" like the fairy tale characters. It could've also starred the late, great Chris Farley as Shrek, but sadly, he passed away before he could audition for the role, but there is unused audio for him playing the character though. But to be fair, Mike Myers himself didn't even KNOW that Farley was originally going to be Shrek, but either Myers or Farley sound great as the character. But Mike Myers has made Shrek the character, his own over the years. And I don't remember each movie jamming the celebrities down our throats for EACH Shrek movie. I do remember it for the 3rd movie, but not for the 4th one. They had to promote Antonio Banderas as Puss In Boots, obviously, he was making his debut in the Shrek the Third, And in the original Shrek, Eddie Murphy, and the rest of the voices had to be promoted, because Mike Myers was HUGE off the role of Wayne from the Wayne's World movies, and Murphy was a MASSIVE star back in the 80's, as a comedian, and because of the Beverly Hills Cop Trilogy. But I guess you're right, and I missed those. Sorry about that...

Garfield: The Movie captures the elusive charm of the most egotistical character on the funny pages, and drops him into a story that allows him to bask in his character flaws. That Garfield is revealed to be brave and conscientious after all will not surprise anyone, although it might embarrass him. Bill Murray's voice-over work finds the right balance for Garfield -- between smugness and uncertainty, between affection and detachment, between jealousy and a grudging ability to see the other point of view. - Roger Ebert June 11th 2004.

Also Prat was fine as a modern Mario, but not quite grumpy or dead pan enough to be Garfield.

I guess I will go with Snoop Dog as a cat for odd casting. When I told my son when I got home (work with kids) he said he has no idea what Snoop Dog did to make white people like him so much 😂.
@GODCONVOYPRIMEАй бұрын
Well he's black and some white people hate themselves which causes them to become racist.

I totally AGREE! he doesnt have the arrogance or indifference. Lorenzo Music was my favorite. Pratt gets enough work. Tired of him so much.

I attended an early screening of The Garfield Movie. The event was packed. We all had a great time except for one brief moment after the climax. The scene by itself is fine. However, the moment comes out of nowhere, oddly changing the movie to PG-13 for a few seconds. Everyone at my screening felt awkward. Young and old. 😳🤷 No, I cannot give a specific because that would be a spoiler.

For better Garfield stuff, just look up "Garfield without Garfield". It's funny as hell, lol

DUUUUUUUUDE! Logan The Wolf is a must review fan-fiim that definitely needs more views! With Deadpool & Wolverine coming to theaters in two months, your review of LTW could make a great lead-up to the upcoming release D&W.

still think he was miscast as Mario too

chris pratt seems like a really good guy and he's a great actor but yeah, it's like he's getting put in any role possible even if it doesn't fit. I'll go watch garfield and friends instead.

Funnily enough, when I heard what the movie was going to be about I was reminded more of Heathcliff (the 80s version with Mel Blanc) because one of the running jokes in the series was Heathcliff's father was a criminal but he mellowed out a lot after having him despite still having a reputation of being a tough criminal.

I agree. I love Chris Pratt, but now he's Emmett, Mario, AND Garfield. They should've given the role to Adam Driver

Illumination + celebrity casting is an automatic pass for me. Had they at least gotten Frank Welker to voice Garfield in this I might have been interested.

This movie isn’t under Illumination it’s under DNEG Animation.

Ok I do agree that a lot of stuff in the movie were too modern like the aggressive amount of smartphone use and yeah there’s unnecessary pop culture references and modern day phrases, but as a guy who absolutely feel in love with the books as a kid in elementary school and who still kind of appreciates the original Bill Murray one (although I wasn’t too big on the second one as a kid unfortunately), I couldn’t help but find enjoyment in it. I’m legitimately as much of a man child as one might be, but oh well! I might buy the blu-ray for this one, to be completely honest. Felt like a mid to upper mid tier Pixar/DreamWorks movie especially considering the fact that I cried 3 times!!! GARFIELD I LOVE YOU 😋

I feel like this is a movie that you might want to watch twice, or think about the next day, to really 'get' it. Lots of set-ups and pay-offs, some risks that paid off, and a genuinely good animated villain that I'd go as far as saying is crueler and more interesting than the villains in The Last Wish, with the mood ring gimmick and lighting that changes to accomodate her being a really inspired choice. It's a movie that I think people want to dislike, and are hoping that they can say it's bad, but it's definitely a solid movie. I dunno, if you're looking for a weirder and more mature Garfield movie, check out Babes And Bullets. It's a strange black-and-white detective noir movie featuring Garfield that really should be talked about more than it is.

Just commenting to say that I am SO DAMN GLAD someone finally pointed out what I'd noticed as a kid: that Garfield sounded a LOT like Pete Venkman from The Real Ghostbusters cartoon. And I remembered that when the Bill Murray Garfield came out.

I know everyone in the comments is clamoring for Nick Offerman as Garfield, and while I enjoy him immensely, I believe he’s too mature sounding for a character like Garfield. Seth Rogen would’ve been my personal pick if a big name celebrity had to voice Garfield. He has that unkempt yet deep voice and sardonically chill attitude that just screams *Garfield!*

i still think Chris Pratt is a miscast as Mario tbh. Mario's family doesn't even sound Italian in the movie
@rtothec1234Ай бұрын
I love how the movie costs $60 million and it's almost made up its budget with global earnings with $98 million. This is why people hire Chris Pratt. He may not be anything special in the voice department, he's certainly not Mark Hamill in terms of voice acting performances, but he is safe and gets asses in seats. He is an undeniable ROI. He's like a dependable ETF that doesn't promise to outperform the market but brings consistently decent sized returns.

.... Do you know Jesus Christ can set you free from sins and save you from hell today Jesus Christ is the only hope in this world no other gods will lead you to heaven There is no security or hope with out Jesus Christ in this world come and repent of all sins today Today is the day of salvation come to the loving savior Today repent and do not go to hell Come to Jesus Christ today Jesus Christ is only way to heaven Repent and follow him today seek his heart Jesus Christ can fill the emptiness he can fill the void Heaven and hell is real cone to the loving savior today Today is the day of salvation tomorrow might be to late come to the loving savior today Romans 6.23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. John 3:16-21 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. Mark 1.15 15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Hebrews 11:6 6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Jesus
