I'm in the process of rebuilding a 1956 Jeep CJ5 and converting it to an electric vehicle and I finally got the motor mounted in the Jeep and connected to the wheels.
I used Anchor Lube in this video and I'm excited they're now a supporter of the channel. Check out their product here:

I was planning on potting the bits of my car that had either fallen off or been cut off in some resin and turning that into a shift knob, you know to commemorate how far it's come. Something similar might fit the Jeeps aesthetic.

Similar to sidewalk bolts, elevator bolts are another handy thing to keep in mind for those odd applications. I had not seen sidewalk bolts before. Thank you for sharing this tidbit. Excellent work. I like the way you reenforced the frame and square tubing. BTW: a chain “fall” is named that for a reason. When lowering, it actually allows the load to fall, and the downward force is turned into centrifugal force and that applies a friction brake. Scary, but scary smart. I wonder who first thought “hey, this is a good idea!” 😂 Please don’t breathe the fumes from the LASER cutter. Ask me how I know. 😢 I’m a really big fan of rubber baby buggy bumpers too! You can’t be old enough to have watched Laugh-In! 😂❤

Jeremy, thanks for sharing the adventure! Beyond my other comment, the only thought I had, the bolts that are holding the motor to the frame, if my Dad saw that, he’d have had a fit. I know you used nylocks, but to him the idea of the nuts came off, the bolts should stay in place. Versus falling out. He had many words of wisdom in the like: for winching, always place the hooks suck that the cable, if it snaps, flys down. Or the hooks fall “on” what they were attached. Etc. Overall, wasn’t I supposed to comment something about transmission oil?? 😂

So many intentionally comment Inducing bits in this video (like the one untightened bolt in the gearboxes top cover, and the tongue twister that could have been a reference to the film "Last Action Hero", or maybe not). Owning an SJ410 myself I have to say, if there's one thing I took away from this channel aside from my SJs long-term electric future, it's just how shamelessly the Japanese engineers helped themselves to ideas straight from the Jeep. Actually a lot of the parts of the transmission are basically the same thing, just reengineered 20 to 30 years more modern than on your jeep.

Great job. It doesn’t matter now not until the jeep is driving, but the t-90 transmission shift rails will leak oil out the back unless you install a plug into the open holes. To prevent the plugs from being forced out by oil that seeped passed the shift rail you also need to drill a drain hole right in front of the plugs to relieve the pressure back to the transmission case.
