Brilliant video Jeremy. I hope your thumb heals quickly and completely, and you are not tempted to over do it, as soon as that brace comes off.

I broke my wrist a couple years ago, falling off a tall ladder, (Dr said it looked like I crashed a motorcycle on the freeway) collected a metal plate and like 7 screws in my wrist for my trouble. My advice is, be religious about doing any Physical Therapy exercises they give you. Like, stubbornly do them, with rage. Also, there is a thing called the bilateral grasping reflex, which the PT people won’t tell you about, but basically it is a built in reflex in the body to do the same movement on both sides when doing hand movements. Knowing this, I did my PT exercises on both my injured side, and good side, at the same time, so my injured side would attempt to mirror my good side. The therapist noted I made faster than expected recovery, which I attribute to exploiting that bilateral reflex to help push my weak side to improve.

I broke my thumb a couple of years ago and it took four months to heal. Partly because I was too stupid to rest it allow it to heal properly. What a pain trying to do things, it makes you appreciate how important that little digit is.

The reason I asked about where you got that scrap from, was because that I'm from an ex-soviet country. When we regained our independence in the early 90s people were quite poor and lots of certain kind of people turned into collecting and selling scrap metal. Even some of the actual working power lines were stolen. They even broke down some concrete from some abandoned soviet factories to steal the rebar. I didn't even consider that it could've been different somewhere else :D awesome.

Don’t mess with not wearing the splint. 40 years ago I suffered a similar injury hanging sheet rock, cut the cast off too early & went back to work. Some days I can’t get a glove on.

I've been watching this channel pretty much from the start. I had no idea you made canoes, I even owned an option for a while! It was my first foray into half paddle boating and it provided a lot of fun over the years. I now live on the other side of the world (NZ) and haven't seen any of your boats around but I would definitely pick one up if I did!

I hope your torn thumb ligament is healing well. I guess the Jeep and electric moped projects are on hold for a while. I’m really looking forward to seeing more videos on those, they are both so cool! But I know you really have to be careful with a torn ligament. Tendons are not very vascular and heal slowly so don’t rush things. I love your pragmatic approach to your projects.

Hope your thumb gets better Jeremy. And to answer the last question a viewer had, is there a God? Yes there is. I was fortunate enough at the age of 9yrs old, to leave my body while hospitalized with s fever that wouldn’t break. I promise you there is a God. And I can’t wait to go back to be with Father and our Lord. Both are more real than you and I and this world. It was the most blissful & beautiful experience I ever had. How it feels, you can’t find it here, only there. Hope to see everyone there👍🙏❤️ And by the way, I’m not religious😉 God didn’t create religion, but man did.

Very good video and quite funny (more missing teeth than a professional hockey team made me laugh out loud!) Interesting to see that you got a lot of gear from FB marketplace, I've done the same, sometimes you can score some amazing bargains and yes, I always check to see what else someone is listing just in case - a guy recently sold me a big box of HSS lathe tooling (about 20kg in weight), a lot of it already preformed with complex curves etc, I actually wanted to buy a couple of dial gauges from him but then spotted the HSS stuff, got the whole lot for around $50

I would really like to hear your thoughts about that master precision square. I'm in the same place as you in regards to rebuilding my mill and i just can't afford a ready granite square. I thought about making a cast iron one and scraping it but recently found that a guy here on yt started from a granite rock, and actually scraped(apparently you can scrape granite with carbide by hand!) and then lapped it with abrasive grit(SiC). So i'm thinking this could be doable IF i can get my hands on a thick enough piece of granite countertop, my target dimensions would be 300x200x50mm. I could start from a small surface plate of such dimensions but right now even those are above reasonable price where i live. Hopefully you heal soon and make a video with your square project.

I havent seen the video that has the issue with the input shaft to electric motor problem, and im wondering what issues youore running into. The last year or so, on top of all the other machining and restoring ive been doing, Ive been rebuilding GM Borg warner T5 transmissions with jeep input shafts so the trans can be installed in traditional customs and pickups. Moving the shifter forward with an s10 tailshaft and modifying the speedo drive to use mechanical speedos on electric speedo drive trans, behind a original chevy 10 spline clutch. Original to early small block chevys and chevy inline 6 cylinder engines. Mainly so the trans doesnt require a spacer between the bell housing and trans.or needing to replace a good clutch or trying to find one for an astrovan (which can sometimes be a bit of a hassle.... Anyway, The T5 is notorious for destroying the mainshaft bearing to input shaft and ive developed a way to repair the main shaft without welding, or puting a soft bearing buddy that just gets destroyed like the factory mainshafts (very thin case hardeneing) so it doesnt need heat treating. Id be interested in lending a hand with the issues youre dealing with on the input to the electric motor. Ill search around on your videos to see if you cover that previously and get an idea of what youre trying to develop.
