FINALLY got my hands on a Kitty Kat. Also, find the Sasquatch in this video and be the first to time stamp it to win a Ride More hat. It's a hard one!

It ran on the power shots, so you have enough compression. The issue is lack of fuel. I believe fuel delivery is provided by gravity which is why the tank is mounted high. My guess is the needle is hanging up in the seat. You freed up the float, but did you blow air thru the fuel inlet while actuatiing the float up and down to see if the needle was free? I would pull the bowl off again and see if you have fuel. If you don't my money is on a stuck needle. If you have fuel in the bowl, then look at a bad crank seal. When you get it running throw some marvel mystery oil on the tank that will free up a stuck ring which could be why compression is on the low side

Jeremy, get the original engine running - might only need new rings and a more thorough carb clean. Save the other Kitty for the Predator 79cc.
@ratherBEaREDNECK9 ай бұрын
These Kitty Cats are collectable enough I bet rings and gaskets can still he found. I would at least try the rebuild
@robertanthony96749 ай бұрын
It is not a compression problem! The engine ran when you put fuel in the cylinder, so it is just not getting gas. The likely problem with low compression is not bad rings but stuck rings, which will loosen up once you get it running long enough to get it up to temp a couple of times. You could try putting a little diesel fuel down the spark plug hole with the piston at TDC and let it set for a few days. Likely what you need to do is, take the needle and seat out and make sure the passage from the fuel line and the seat is completely clear, and make sure the carb vents are clear or you could be getting a air lock, which will not let fuel into the carb. I like your video's but there one thing wrong with them. There are not more of them!😅😅😅 Keep up the good work!

I had a 72 kitty kat...my dad brought it home from work (he was a night club singer)...woke me up at 2:30am...had my first accident 10 minutes later... bought me a helmet the next day. Ahhhh, fun times. Won the Feb. 1973 Rendezvous games in Whitehorse YK. at 5 y/o...I still have the trophy.

My dad brought one home in 1979!! I rode over saplings and hit the shed lol. It went to my cousins who were much younger and whose dad was a mechanic. They all rode it. It sat in the mezzanine of their shop till I had it restored and is now with one of my great friends place being ridden by his boys. I got lots of the parts from eBay including the lift kit. His boys love it!!!

Jeremy. You can do a tecumseh 5hp carb upgrade on these engines. Also. Thats a 73 engine. 72s had metal tanks and a different carb. Also you can get deep powder lift kits for these sleds. They are worth the money.
@stephenh51669 ай бұрын
He's probably guessing based off number on the side of the chassis as the Cat manufacturing date was a usually a year before the model year. If it's taged a '72, that means it's a '73 model.

On the side of the butterfly there is 2 to 3 holes the size of a human hair. You have to run a wire through them or they will not stay running. Just put rings in it and run it.

Those vintage sleds will usually fire up and work with very little effort. Sitting for 5 years on an old sled is nothing. I've got an old Citation that sat so long the underside looks like Swiss cheese and it still fired up and moves 😂

Hey like your videos I was fortunate to be in one 7 years ago in your snowmobile shopping vid I enjoy watching you guys fix sleds to running condition I just got a older sled runs and drives only with choke on half would it just need to have carbs cleaned to fix that issue?
@robertanthony96749 ай бұрын
Typically yes just clean the carburetor. Make sure you get all the passages are clean and open along with the jets of course. Lots of times people clean the jets, carb body and bowl, but forget the passages and the engine will run lean and burn either a hole in the center of the piston or the front edge of the piston(s). Good Luck!.
