When do you think Yamaha is going to release a new intermediate/beginner keyboard and good video by the way

Hi Jeremy, do you know if the Casio can tell you which finger to use while the Yamaha won't?

The two keyboards are more evenly matched than you make out! The final score of Yamaha 9 vs Casio 6 includes a point for the Yamaha being cheaper, and yet I have just checked online and found that in the UK at the present time the Casio is cheaper than the Yamaha. So if we take one point from the Yamaha and give it to the Casio, we get Yamaha 8 vs Casio 7, which is as close as it is possible to be for an odd number of points!

I got myself an EZ300 after seeing and earring this keyboard. Your playing is so Beautiful, quality… loved everything about it. Thank you for this video.
@winterheat2 жыл бұрын
so if the goal is to learn to play the piano, then maybe the Casio is a better options because the keys are semi-weighted and are closer to a real piano. The Yamaha one is more like a keyboard... it is a bit too springy to me (some says it can make your fingers play the wrong way if you play the keyboard too much). Another thing I found for the Casio is that it tells you which finger to use if you wait a little while, and the Yamaha doesn't seem to have such a function. One more thing is that the LK-S450 uses the AiX Sound Source, which can give the sound of a German Stage Concert Piano, so this one beats the Yamaha if piano voice is what you are looking for as a piano learner. So if I can get only one, I may go with the Casio one, but it may be ok to get both, if you consider piano lessons can be US$60 an hour (I am not sure how much it costs?), so if you spend an extra $279 plus tax which is $300 to get the EZ-300 but can learn a few more songs from its lessons, then it may be worth it.

"I found for the Casio is that it tells you which finger to use if you wait a little while" - Hi, I haven't bought Casio lk-s450 yet, so I can't check. Please write how exactly does Casio indicate which finger to press the key with? Is something displayed on the screen keyboard or do I need a tablet and a special program for this?

@@cracow360 Hello, from watching other videos I have seen that the casio says the numbers aloud. For example if you neex to use the third finger, the voice from the keyboard will say "3" etc.... I hope this answers your question. I am torn between these two keyboards, but I am leaning towards the casio because of the boxed and slightly weighted keys. Did you buy the casio in the end, if so, what do you think of it?

If using as an arranger that Casio full range and chord bass option is clutch. I used to choose Casio for the polyphony benefits depending on the keyboard but this is pretty evenly matched. Despite the Yamaha audio interface and the extra cost for Bluetooth I would probably still choose the Casio for the chordana app option with learning songs unless Yamaha has something comparable. I still love being able to play full chords and the Casio using the alternate bass line. I used to choose Yamaha over Casio in these budget lines but I still feel Casio has a slight edge for gigging in multiple settings.

Dear Jeremy, you are the most knowledgeable person. And I thank you for sharing your valuable knowledge. hope you find the time to Answer. I am aiming to learn Hindustani Raga (Indian classical music) with a Harmonium. As I don't have local access to teachers in this Genre. I would like to help myself by using the Key lighting system of a keyboard for learning porposes and then refine everything on the Indian Harmonium I already have. The Idea is: 1: Convert Raga solo instrumental pieces to midi. 2: Convert or use existing indian Tabla beats. 3. Import them to a key lighting Keyboard. And integrate them in the Lesson/ Teaching system of the keyboard. 4. Start learning. My question: Which keyboard would you suggest for a beginner with these ambitions? All the other bells and whistles of a keyboard important for traditional keyboarders are subrelevant for me. The capability to import and integrate Some (minimum 3 /maximum 10) indian beats and (minimum 3/ maximum 30) midi files of converted indian ragas in the keyboards learn/teaching system is all I will need. I have seen numourous Videos of yours but am not able to decide due to the analytical deminsions of the problem/ solution. Thank you for your Kind response.

Thanks Jeremy for the comprehensive review! Looking for a keboard for our family and I'm torn between these two. I do lean toward the Yamaha because of brand familiarity. I'm not really interested in all the different instruments and synth functions. My priorities are, piano sound quality, keylighting, weighted keys, learning functions/app support. Cost is a factor too of course, are there any other options out there?

Does anyone know how to find sheet music for the songs in Casio LK series? I believe the Casio versions are simplified, and key-changed for beginners, which is why sheet music that is normally found online does not match what the LK teaches. I am looking for sheet that matches the Casio simplified versions. The songs have stayed largely unchanged for decades right? But I can't see a song book online.

Regarding Casio, I have doubts between choosing LK-s450 and Cdp-s110. Is lesson mode with illuminated keys so useful? Would it be equivalent to using an iPad with any piano roll app? For a beginner, which one would be better? Lk-s450 for the illuminated keys or cdp-s110 for the full keyboard and better feel of weighted keys? Thank you
@sammyfromsydney Жыл бұрын
I wish you'd included something about their MIDI capability and song expansion. I would probably be interested in learning only at most a dozen of the built in songs. A casual or beginner being able to load other songs or play them via MIDI in is going to find that a valuable feature. I think both can do this and the keys light up, but I don't know for sure, and I don't know which MIDI channels light up the keys.
@sma1616 Жыл бұрын
literally my question lol which one can light up songs I CHOOSE. any answers??

I have the Yamaha EZ300. It can light the keys with MIDI. It has two Function settings to determine which MIDI channel lights the keys. Each of the two Function can select a MIDI channel from 01 to 16. I had a Casio many years ago but forget the model, it also did light with MIDI. Gave it to a child learning to play. I like the Yamaha and kind of want to keep it, but it will soon go to another child.

I know these are basically the lighted key versions of the PSR-E373 and CT-S400, with differences you covered in other videos. Those are both great, in addition to getting the CT-S1, I may have to get both, just because the are both great, in their unique ways, like my Go:Keys and JD-Xi has their own special abilities. Hello Jeremy. In your unbiased opinion how important is it to have weighted keys for someone who is learning only for leisure and not intend to have a piano? Is it helpful in any way to better learning?
@matthewgaines103 жыл бұрын
If you never touch a piano, it's less important. The answer is subjective beyond that. I have weighted, graded keys on a stage piano. I have semi-weighted keys on a workstation keyboard. I have synth action mini keys on a synthesizer. Since I learned on an acoustic piano first, I am more expressive on a weighted, graded keyboard. I would suggest sticking to what works for you. Try various actions and decide what works for you personally. That's the real answer. No one size fits all. As long as you know that how you learn affects how play. Learn on a keyboard without weighting can affect you ability to adjust to weighted keys. Pick your adventure.
@michaeless6583 жыл бұрын
