This is still like my favorite model you've designed. It's just so fascinating how you came up with it from one dollar and how simple it was to fold.

How are you so creative??? I have been watching and subscribing for 1 or 2 years and I still did not grew tired of your videos. It's just amazing!

Pretty cool, very ingenious, not so challenging in normal paper, long is solid, large not as I wish, One dollar''s dimensions:15,6 x 6,6 cm, resulting into a 3,2x1,7 aprox (storage) box.. The making process it's a bit slow, but no cuts, no glue, so that's one of the best Origami's tricks you can learn. Big Thanks to his creator 👍🏻

@@BBGshop7 Congratulations! I'm glad you managed to fold it. I just watched the video again and was kind of astonished at the close-up picture quality. I don't think my current camera can match it, or perhaps it's the dollars that allow the focus to be so sharp.

Thanks! How do I transport my origami. Well for my show pieces I've painted several small wooden boxes which I put into a large painted suitcase that I carry around with me to my gigs. But the models that are works in progress I stuff into plastic bags and store them up in the attic.

This is such an elegant fold. How did you come up with the sliding portion of the inner box?
@jeremyshaferorigami6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I feel I might have been exposed to the idea 30 years ago. I know Peter Budai's origami razor cutting tool slides out with a similar mechanism but there might have even been an origami matchbox with that mechanism too, but if there was, I haven't been able to find it from my recent searching. It could possibly have even been my own attempts at recreating Fred Rohm's matchbox from a picture I saw of it. I originally was going to teach a version closer to the Fred Rohm model, which has the connecting flap inside the inner box (I even filmed the tutorial!), but I wasn't happy with how the model looked on top so I figured out a way to invert the inner box so that the eagle came out on top instead of on the bottom of the matchbox. I also discovered that that the connecting flap needed to be shortened to just less that half of the length of the box or else it will get stuck. I used that extra 2 millimeters of paper for the lock on the inner box which made the model cleaner looking and better working.

The rectangles are the length of the finished matchbox. Their width is 3 times the desired width of the matches. I just folded in the short end of a tiny rectangle to form the red and then folded the long edges behind (overlapping thirds) and interlocked them. I hope that makes sense.
