Great Jeremy, very good idea to show the examples in the book so we can follow along and to show also an other tune! By the way from minute 5 the audio is still buzzing from time to time, so maybe a limiter on your software or even better in your recording device would help avoiding the distortion in the first place :)

Thanks for the tip. I’ll check it out! I use loopback for my sound, but that’s the end of my sonic technical prowess right now. I’ll have to look at a limiter software. If you have recommendations, I’m open!

@@JeremySiskind In the digital world the key is not to distort the signal in the input, there is no need to maximise the signal to noise ratio like in the analog days. It is much better to record a low signal peaking at -12 or -6dB and then using a compressor or limiter or maximizer to bring it to 0 dB. Unfortunately there is no way of repairing a distorted signal that’s why analog compressor are so useful even now in modern digital studios, to tame the louder peaks especially for singers, drums and yes also for piano :) So in a nutshell if you don’t have a real limiter the software limiter is only useful if you record a low and clean signal in the first place, any Daw including Garageband has one and if you go on the Izotope site just now they are offering a basic mastering suite for free till the end of may. Hope it helps, For any doubt I am here
