Memories are made of this! Thank you Jeri-Ann for the instructional video where I could nod & think I remember that! Know that they have modern features on models today but it was great seeing in real time all the zigzag stitches that are available. Couple of stories from my stitching past. in Jr.HS, when I brought up my apron that I was constructing to the instructor for approval she said, "Do you know what is wrong with it?" Sheepishly gestured with my head turning from side-to-side.."No." She replied, "How do you expect to put your hand in the pocket?" Immediately took the apron, returned to my seat & feverishly removed the stitches from the pocket opening. Many yrs. later I was determined to have a positive experience with sewing. I made several dresses, vests, slacks & even some little dresses for my niece. Sewing came in handy to make curtains & to mend too. Do you have a monogram feature on your machine? And if so do you use it? What do you enjoy doing most with your sewing machine?

Thanks for this video! I have had my Brother XL 3750 machine for close to 7 or 8 years. Never could figure out how to thread it so I'm thrilled to see a tutorial. I, like others, am trying to learn so I can sew some masks. I do have a question, I don't see my bobbin (I may have lost it) is it a necessity? If so I will try to order one, you said it had to be for our specific machine, correct? I wanted to first see if I had to have it or if I could possibly thread it without it. Thanks for all your help!!!

Hi Jessica Morales, Agree that It looks intimidating & it does take time to learn but it is not difficult. I took a sewing course and learned how to make outfits for my self and others when I was out on my own. It's a self-gratifying experience and one that I'm glad I ventured out of my comfortable mode to do so. You might even enjoy it as I did Jessica. You remind me of my mom. My mom did not like to sew. My dad used to mend & hem my skirts when I was a young girl...God bless the dear!

Hi Jessica, Hope that you find another venue in your town that does offer sewing classes without sewing machine ownership. In my city yrs. ago, there was a fabric store that offered sew. machine lessons, although I don't know what the course requirements were. Forgot to add previously that I enjoyed reading your creative introductory remarks to "Mr. Sew. Machine!" Have a blessed da. as well Jessica Morales.

I have Kenmore that was my mum's for 20 years before she gave it to me when I graduated 8th grade ( my end in elementary school) many many decades ago. Of course it doesn't have any fancy stitches but it's such a workhorse! I was horrible to the poor thing. I used it constantly making my own clothes and hardly ever cleaned it. My mum would haul it to my dad to clean and oil every few months. Once I was on my own the poor thing didn't get oiled and cleaned until it was clattering. lol Now I take much better care of it and have it professionally cleaned and oiled every 3 months. But, even through all that it still runs like a champ and will even sew through several layers of heavy denim. I recently hemmed the edge of a canvas floor cloth I'd painted that was made from a super heavy painters cloth. 3 layers and it cut through went through it like butter. They sure don't make them like that anymore. I also have a singer treadle and a new Brother with more stitches than I'll ever use! I love that you're including sewing in your videos!!

Just a hint to make threading the needle easier. Needle holes are seriously narrow and oblong. If you get the tip of your thread wet, like you do, then flatten it between a finger and your thumb it'll go through much easier!

I also have the XL3750, but dont I understand what I'm doing wrong in the threading. Thread keeps on breaking at the silver arm that goes up and down, also when I think I'm sewing the under stiches are tangled and long. I am a beginner with my first machine and just trying to hem a pair of jeans using size 16 needle.I put all dials and knobs on number2. Any suggestions or advice? Thank you, great video. Have just subscribed maybe I'll learn, all I want to do is sew a straight line for jeans I'll be using only at home.
@JeriAnnHenson
@JeriAnnHenson 6 жыл бұрын
Loose bottom threads are your tension which is hard to adjust by yourself, well I found it that way anyway. When your threading machine make sure you don’t go through those two desks before you go in the arm. Those two discs at the top are only four winding the bobbin. If you go through them while threading your machine it will hold the thread too tight and snap. Without seeing your machine it’s hard to determine exactly what else could be wrong with it. Let me know if this helps! Best of luck and thank you for watching!

Hi Jeri Ann, I bought this machine like 3 yrs ago, only opened it and played with it once, today, 3 yrs later because of all this going on, I’m home so I opened it and want to make some masks. I have no idea how. The number one problem is the string on top keeps getting out the needle when I want to start sewing, and tangled on the lower bobbin. Why does it do that? What am I doing wrong? There’s two knobs with numbers on top, where are those supposed to be at? Please help. You made it seem so easy.
@JeriAnnHenson
@JeriAnnHenson 4 жыл бұрын
There are many reasons why this may be happening but most likely your settings are not proper for what you’re sewing through. I have to be honest with you and I’ve never touch the tension on any sewing machine I’ve ever had, LOL! It kind of scares me, LOL! I would just make sure that your bobbin is placed in there properly and that the thread is going in the direction that it supposed to. The most common reason that threads break is because the machine is not threaded properly so just pull out all your thread and start over from scratch. And funny enough I learned how to sew from the instructions for sewing machine. Instruction manuals usually give you different types of stitches and when to use them and how to do stuff like a blind him and a roll over stitch. So if you ever get stuck you can always refer to that for any lessons or tips you might need. Let me know if this solves the problem.

Hi, I hate to complain, but I have been sewing all my life and I do not think that you addressed the most difficult parts of the machine. I have this too, But I do not know ;what to do with all the gadgets on the machine. I believe if you could explain the wheels on the face and on top, I would have learned more. I need a instruction booklet so that I can work all the spools and knobs. So, you see, could you make a video more specific to the extras on this new fangled thing? Thanks.

Thanks for this video. It is the first video I have ever seen about this Brother XL 3750. Personally, I think this is the worst sewing machine I have ever tried to use. It is nearly imposible to get the tensions equalized. The controls are so limited. I just finished hemming something and it skipped stitches after stitch. Gathered when I didn't want it to. Then all of a sudden during a smooth 3 inches of stitching, the needle begand to hit the fooot. It is loud and jumpy. It had a very tricky bobbin and bobbin size. I noticed you were using a metal bobbin. Mine only takes the thin plastic ones that doesn't hold much thread. I even changed needles to a new one. There is only 1 decent feature on this machine and it's the automtic therader. I was hoping for some tension setting tricks that I haven't been abel to locate on my own. I rearely even try to use this machine but had to do so because 1 good machine is out of order and no reason as to ecpalin why. and the other has a caught thread that I haven't taken time to remove. Otherwise this plastic junk remaind in storage. I am glad others are enjoying and are happy with their sewing machines. P.S My thread is Guttermans.

Sorry Jeanene, I can help with what you need. I was not saying to wind the bobbin in the beginning when I was showing a walkthrough of the machine. I was just showing you that it has a diagram on it. You have to slide your bobbin over, when loading it before pressing the presser foot. Are you doing that and still not getting results?
@jeanenerosier6567
@jeanenerosier6567 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for responding, you have to understand this is a video for beginners. At 3:20 you thread through the bobbin and then at about 3:45 you take thread from the bigger spool and start threading but you don't ever mention taking the thread out of the bobbin. Make sense? I figured that out myself that you take it out AFTER trying numerous times. Thanks for your help though.
