Did you know that ants preform surgeries on each other they can identify wounds on other ants and treat them by either cleaning the wound or amputating it if it’s really bad. When amputating the limb they bite down on it multiple times until it comes off. The surgeries are very helpful they make the ant more likely to survive as they reduce the risk of infection. This is a pretty recent discovery too. I love ants so much they are so complex and cute they care deeply for one another and have unique social structures. Some ants have agriculture they’ll feed a fungus their scraps and then eat it but not so much that it’ll stop growing. Ants are so cool

Ear wigs are called earwigs cus their wings resemble the shape of ears the myth about them crawling into ears comes from their name. Look up photos of earwig wings they are beautiful. The way they fold up is extremely intricate and complex also look at earwig nymphs they are adorable. Jerma is right earwigs are cute and fun

@fennec70 #1 is the Vietnamese centipedes bc they're good mothers and they'll just sit in a ball with their kids inside without eating or anything just so their kids will survive #2 is the dobsonfly bc their jaws are awesome and also hellgramites(the larva) are cool #3 is the rosy maple moth for obvious reasons #4 is the polyphemus moth bc they're huge and also a reference to Homer's Odyssey #5 is the Madagascar hissing cockroach bc I think it's cool that they can hiss

37:32 I've been saying for so long that people who "hate bugs" are simply people who don't know jack shit about them.(this excludes ppl with actual phobias. Sometimes we can't control what we're afraid of and that's okay) They're all such intricate little creatures, each having their own little contributions to keeping quite literally the entire world alive(it's not even an exaggeration, we'd be dead so fast without bugs). I took a very similar path to jerma, afraid and grossed out by bugs at first, but then started actually LEARNING about them, and it is basically impossible to not appreciate the lil guys after having some knowledge about them. So any time someone says they hate bugs, I know right away that they just don't know shit about them. Like, dung beetles straight up use THE STARS to navigate while they roll their lil poop ball around! Isn't that so fuckin neat!? And they use their lil poop balls to lay their eggs in, since animal shit just happens to have the perfect conditions and nutrients for their young, and they can also burrow in them to keep cool! AND, doing all this means that they help break down and disperse animal shit across the land, and what is animal shit often used for? Fertilizer to make nutritious soil for making healthy plants! They're just lil guys!!!!

His evolution was just like mine. I despised bugs and had a phobia then later on through various hobbies I kinda grew to find them interesting. Gardening and pet keeping, then learning about them and a bit about their evolution got me to like them a bit. My phobia isn’t fully gone but it’s manageable now (To this day I hate mosquitoes and roaches :))
