For those interested, you get lifetime relationship points by having the sim just hang out at your house, it does reduce the temporary relationship score a bit so ideally you could, for instance, sit down, click on the TV to watch it, and invite the person to watch with you. Or just paint and have them swim in your pool, that'd work as well.

idk if jerma runs this channel, but if he ever streams again, one of Sims 1's expansions added a really weird relationship system that split things into two bars. The top bar, that Jerma kept trying to fill before flirting, is the daily relationship bar, and is a gage of how things went that day. The bar on the bottom is the lifetime relationship bar, which is more or less what's important for romance to work. When it's at a certain amount (around 25 or so iirc) romantic interactions appear.

The daily relationship system feeds into the lifetime relationship, draining around 2-4 points a day from the former and adding an equivalent amount to the latter. This takes quite awhile, but it can be sped up by giving gifts, which directly increases the lifetime relationship bar.
