The fact JD replied shows hes low key pissed. He didnt sign her the way he wanted. Yeah she sign to the show. But im pretty sure she read her contract and made sure he can't get residuals after such time. Probably only imcome he gets from her is songs from the show. Pretty sure she control most of her masters. Thats why alot of these executives try their best to sign artist to 360 deals. They get a higher return from the artist. When an artist is independent its super difficult to sign them to anything. Because an artist has a big brand already, youtube and IG checks feeding them handsomely. They can buy their own drip. They own their masters. Its enough to make these executives cry.

I believe she signed a contract with Lifetime to be on the show. Now of course JD is a part of that contract and definitely gains and benefits from it monetarily. She may not have signed a contract to be one of his artist on his label, and she may not owe his record company an album, or a certain amount of music, I do think he owns the music she did on the show. That’s my understanding of it, but I could be wrong. Idk... What I don’t understand is why the music industry insist on continuing shady business practices, taking advantage of artists who are vulnerable when there’s enough money for everyone. Notice how they only do that in our genre of music 🤔. You never hear anything like this coming from white artists. It’s gotten so bad now to where Black People are doing it to each other because it was done to them. They turn around and inflict the same BS onto the young brothers and sisters coming in the game. Him saying she's already signed just confirms what she said, "It wasn't enough money." If somebody on the level of a JD wants to sign an independent artist who is willing to hear entertain their offer, you can buy them out of their contract...for the right price. Considering that her dad was her manager at the time, he probably would have had to cash out her dad some serious cake.
