Amazing device. The build was superb. The material and finish were perfect. Love to see this on the market. If it is mass produced, the cost can reduce significantly.

Awesome! Why not show it being used on a court and with a player? Would be cool to see how well it actually works? Keen to see how fast the shuttle goes too as a casual/social/serious player myself? Have you thought of open sourcing the design? How much did it cost you for parts/software and stuff? I was thinking about designing a launcher myself and using more 3d printing if that could make it cheaper or easily upgradeable/repairable? And maybe open sourcing it so people all over the world could get one for much cheaper..? The ones sold are like $800 - $2000+ which is unaffordable for the average student/player..? Would love to release a design that's like $100 or $200 to build/buy! What're those 2 spinning (rock?) discs that actually contact the shuttle called? The ones attached to the motor?? A grinder wheel or something?

Wow what a great work!!! I plan also to build such a machine. How long ist the max distance that the shuttlecock fly? Which kind of wheels do you use for lunching? I hope you can give me some infomation.

@Jeroen1278 The track speed is v = rω (assuming your wheels have a diameter of 0,12m r=0,06) and ω = 2 * π * (5000rpm/60s) * 3.6. So i got a track velocity of 0,06×2×3,14159×(5000÷60)×3,6 = 113,09 km/h or 70,2708681 mph. But a smash could be near 400km/h. So long story made short: What is the serve range. How far does it shoot shuttles? I'm struggling with my whole rpm/torque wheel diameter configuration :`(

Great job man looks like a labor of love. Do you find the rollers wear down ?
@Jeroen12787 жыл бұрын
No, they don't wear down, they are from a very though material. similar to hard rubber.
@WanderVagabond7 жыл бұрын
that is awesome! my friend and I have been wanting to build something like this (problem is I am a developer and he is a data scientist) but we are passionate about badminton. We doubt we have the skills to building anything close to this. If we could just get the shooting mechanism to work on a piece of MDF board I think I would be happy!

impressive solution, very comprehensive, I have been looking at building a shuttlecock launcher, what RPM does the motors need to run at to send to back court? , on what size wheel? i want to do a budget solution KISS version keep it simple. (parts from china)
@Jeroen12787 жыл бұрын
The motors that i use are running at 5000 RPM, and the wheels have a diameter of 125mm .

Great work. Wondering what is the speed of the shutte?
@476182717 жыл бұрын
You can calculate that by yourself. If the wheels are running with 5000 rpm and the diameter is d=0.125m, you get the aprox. max-speed v with: v = d*pi*rpm/60 = 0,125m*pi*5000/60*1/s = 32,725 m/s =117,809 km/h
