Dal vivo questo Basso Meraviglioso aveva una bellissima voce del Basso vero . Questa registrazione purtroppo non rende giustizia . 1 Hines = 40 Samuel Ramey. Dal vivo era così . Saluti cordiali il vecchio PS in questa registrazione sento un vibrato normale lirico vero. Purtroppo in questo video non sento la vera bellezza della voce di Hines. Dal vivo era un’altra cosa.

Believe me, he could sing this in perfect German. He is simply in an English language production. I sang the role of Valentin in Faust with him. He was not only a wonderful, kind man, but a consummate artist, and one of the greatest Bassos of all time. . Nothing ridiculous about it.

Bro, that wasn't always the way people saw it. For the longest time operas were translated. Josef Greindl for example, a German bass, sang most arias in German. It's just the way things were, nothing ridiculous to be found

Oh my. This guy, Jerome Hines is one of the greatest if not the greatest American operatic bass in history. Superbly technical and sings effortlessly in all languages. It's like insulting Michael Jordan because you don't follow basketball or are not educated about him because he no longer plays. Learn your history
