Ive had a very, very dark week. I think “mental breakdown” is the best way to describe it. Thoughts coming from the darkest void the human mind can dwell in; rock bottom, if you know what I mean. Today i finally felt a glimmer of hope and then this album just dropped about an hour ago and I immediately put it on on apple music and man, this song really does it for me. This and Nobody Breaks You are really lifting me up. Jerry is one of my biggest inspirations and he has done it again. Love this guy

So amazing!! This is a song wrote by a man who has learned lessons with age. In the so called winter of life. You know the point were your too old to die young and to young to die old. I am in that space too. I now have older kids and I do not know who I am when I have spent 21 years with my kids as the center of life. Now I have to let go and let them fly. And now I m left with the pain I have pushed down and kept it there by staying busy taking care of my boys. Now I have to dig through that mud to find me. There is beauty in holding on but there is also beauty in letting go. Or so I m told..........

Too old to die young, and too young to die old, that reminds me of that Fidlar song "leave me alone" Too late to die young, and too young to burn out. But anyway, it's never too late to make a new start, start a new chapter, not even for a marinemom ( marinewoman;)

Been busy for years working hard in the rat race and raising fam.....watching the years slip away....not exactly sure where to go from here....music inspires, especially Jerry's.....I'm not ready to give up just yet. Great analysis. I appreciate the point you make of Jerry being a man with many learned lessons. It's a reminder that he's just as human as all of us (even tho his talent is otherworldly!) and at some point, he cannot continue to live in his past. This album is a new take yet still has his elements from AIC. A perfect mix. People need to understand that artists grow personally and artistically. Given his past interviews, I think he is moving on to an elevated stage of his career and life, a hopeful one where he has already grieved and healed. He seems to be a stronger, greateful, and wiser man, appreciative of his learned lessons, hopeful and prepared to take on brighter days. We'll always love you and root for you Jerry! Thank you for making our lives better!

You know, the first three albums of aic (and jar of flies too) came to me in a time of my life where I needed to feel a companion in the dark. I needed to feel like I wasn't the only one feeling dirty, depressed and suicidal. Those records helped me to cope with that, I was very young. I still love them and listen to them regulary. And while Layne had a lot to do with those albums, the brain behind those songs was Jerry and we all know that. But now jerry gives us this album, and while it's not aic or degradation trip I can't help but think this is the album I needed to listen right now. An album that gives me hope, not dark vibes. It has light, it sounds uplifting sometimes, and the sadder songs or "darker" songs (if we can call them that way, not much of darkness in this record) are all in a different tone that the ones on aic or even degradation trip. The "brighter" single healed me from a few personal stuff when it came out, and now I feel this record is doing the same. I really loved this album. The lyrics, the lighter songs, the vibe. It sounds like a wiser man singing to sorrow by accepting it and embracing it, finally. Very different from what he did on Degradation Trip. I don't expect everyone to feel the way I do, but do you guys understand how lucky we are that Jerry is still doing meaningful and beautiful music for us? I hope he keeps doing it for many more years. I was 14 when I discovered aic, now I'm 27, and I still feel the company of jerry's music.
