Thanks gnu. Some choice tasty Jerry here. I'll Take A Melody is a full glory before it's half through -- you can hear people starting to lose it and go crazy about 12 minutes in. Ozzie's New Orleans pump-organ chords to the fore and Jerry's full on orgasmic climax to wrap it -- and then, warmly, into the Devil. The Jerry Band's version was always special -- slower, laid back, toasted. D'Fonseca's young energy is a real plus, pushing jams into high gear sooner sometimes than Jerry & John would've.

Just missed seeing this by a couple of days & finally got in to my first JGB in Syracuse a few days later & I have the Program from it and I posted it on my channel page! When I found out that they played My favorite Dylan song.... Positively 4th Street! I was bummed I missed it! In the 30+ Jerry shows I saw I never got to see him play it. My favorite version is from a few days later at the Tower Theater.

I haven’t heard the version you are referring to…but this version is chef’s kiss…amazing…Ozzie’s solo breathes & swells & is amazingly improvisational…I can’t imagine him composing this solo on the fly…and Jerry’s 2nd solo with that bend down that starts it off…these guys were at the top of their game…I wonder if Ozzie ever got offered the GD keyboard chair before Brent…? And I luv Brent…just a thought I had… ??? Anyway…Luv this version…Wow!!
