Just to hear the man play one more time...the sounds, his voice and spirit still gives me the goosebumps. Just listen to solo in this selection and let it take you back to those hot summer nights at the stadium. Some twirled, cried, smiled and even hugged the person they didnt even know standing right next to them just being happy to be there and take it all in. I truly miss those days...made me the man I am today. Proud to be a Deadhead...and always will! Thanks for the great times Jerry!

Absolutely love it. One of my top five favorite songs ever written. Especially this version. I play it all the time when I Dj and people absolutely love it, not to mention it's over nine minutes long which gives me five minutes to go get stoned and four minutes to listen to the kick ass ending. Jerry is missed by many, forgotten by few and is a legend in the music business forever. It doesn't matter what any haters say. He was amazing and there will never be another like him....

So wonderful; this captures the strange mix of quiet joy and sadness of nostalgia and fond memories of times gone. Well, van usually does that for me - no-one else can write music that can get right into your soul like that; Jerry gives it the perfect expression.
@scherbify9 жыл бұрын
This performance stones me to my soul. I can't really say why. It just makes me peaceful inside in a way I rarely experience. I like to play this with a little red wine before turning in. Makes me think tomorrow is going to be a fantastic day. It is deeply spiritual for me almost like a prayer. I listened to the great Van Morrison sing this but he rushes through it. Garcia and his band give the space and time and piercing notes for this simple song to permeate one's soul. I think the critics here don't grasp the perfect imperfection of real art. Even my dog knows this is great and comes over to enjoy it and fantasize about chasing rabbits. Thanks Harry.

Jerry was my idol. He brought me so much joy and laughter. I remember the JGB at the stone in San Francisco, what a joy that was, I don't follow or admire many people, but Jerry I admired and followed. Damm life without his vibe is very dull. Thank god for these old videos.

The Encyclopedia Of Jerry Garcia Music Venues Fourteen years ago, I began writing The Encyclopedia Of Jerry Garcia Music Venues. It's the only book that combines all of Jerry's side band dates and the Grateful Dead's dates together by venue. Alphabetically by state, there are over 1300 venues that include rehearsal, recording, performance, living spaces and planned/canceled show venues. The history of each venue is here including architects, builders, owners, opening night performances and other notable appearances, murals, statues, stage prosceniums, backstage areas, pipe organs, secret rooms, hidden tunnels, restorations and demolitions. Jerry's history at each venue includes the bands he played with, setlists, opening acts and other information giving the reader an idea of what went down at every date on every tour. In many cases via dated photos, what guitar Jerry was playing, and other anecdotal stuff that we love to read. I've added eyewitness reports to as many specific dates as possible. These are numerous, hysterical and heartwarming. Thus far I‘ve collected over 1120 hi res venue photos approved by over 900 photographers. I've utilized college and public library special collections, historical societies, museums, Flickr and others. There aren't any Jerry photos, I have photos of the venues themselves to highlight where he played. Jerry owned over 130 musical instruments in his lifetime, giving away most of them. It's all chronicled in a 300 page section called Jerry's Musical Instruments. Envision a two volume, 2400 page set protected in a slipcase, similar to an old bible. This is a book that resembles the records kept for medieval pilgrimages to holy sites. People will want to know centuries from now where it all took place...so there ya go! On June 3rd the Kickstarter campaign launches with a cool little video starring me, and Jerry! That's where you can get the pre-purchase discount. I need your help to reach my goal in order to print this fantastic book. If I’m successful the book will be printed and ready in March 2024.

Never paid any attention to these guys when they were in their prime. MY LOSS. Mr Garcia seems like a genuine item. Plays and sings with a lot of soul, without the antiseptic look and feel of today's artists. Never knew what a good guitarist he was. Gone way too early like so many other genuine items of his era. But he left a legacy I can pick up on and enjoy in a retrospective way. Glad I finally caught on. Hope deadheads will welcome me to the party even though I'm about 40-50 years late.

This was a nice little mini JGB tour. After the Werewolves of Oakland shows over Halloween when Bill Graham died and Grace Slick’s house burned down in the Fire On The Mountain we all took off to see the Jerry Band. The Chicago-Milwaukee-Minneapolis final shows were all great highlighted by a very blusey Lay Down Sally in Milwaukee and a relatively rare JGB encore at the final show in Minneapolis, featuring Wonderful World (Sachmo not Cooke)
