Jerry did this at a nightime Ventura Fairground show in 94 that was absolutely off the hook. It's the hardest I danced in my life. Jerry and Melvin took it to a place that wasn't even Sally anymore. It was pure mastery that brought them back. I mean I thought they were lost in the most wonderous way but they miraculously found their way back to Sally. Improvisation in its highest form.

As he said once “Ultimately what I would hope would happen is that there would be no more identification of groups on the basis of names and things like that but rather than for music to be seen as to what it really is, which is a group effort. People would go to a concert and there be no headliner. There would only be music you know? Rather than the system of stardom and all of the show business stuff. It’s really unnecessary. But yes, there is a trend towards of playing in more different configurations and so forth, it’s because it’s fun”. -Circa. 1972. He was a treasure and still unappreciated by so many. The fact that he’s yet to be named top 10 guitarist in any magazine says much. I respect and love them but I’ll stand here and defend myself when I say Jerry was better than BB, Clapton, Beck, EVH, SRV, Chuck, Hendrix, Santana. Anyone. The only one that would be, Mr. Les Paul, that man was a badass.
