Jerry Garcia backstage
Paramount Theatre, Portland, OR
October 2, 1977.
Garcia talks to unknown people backstage.
Topics of discussion include the upcoming trip to Egypt in 1978,
the upcoming tour, tuning guitars and pianos, Bill Walton,
the Englishtown show. Sounds like drug use is involved, as
toking and snorting sounds are present. Date is determined
by references to "show last night" (the Dead played Oct. 1
and Oct. 2/77 in Portland), reference to just starting the
tour in Seattle, and other references.

He talks about Doug Erwin putting the Wolf Inlay to replace Jerry's Wolf sticker on the famous Wolf Guitar. " I just got it back and I want to see if there's still something between me and it".

He almost never thought they played well when they did. I heard him explain it once he imagines what he thinks it should sound like in his head & when it doesn’t come off he hates it. Back when this was recorded he used to go to the bus or hotel & listen to every concert afterwards. It’s amazing & sad as hell that he went from practicing guitar 10-12hrs every single day & methodically going over every concert to not caring at all in the span of just a few years.

He's 💯 right!!!! That was NOT a good show!!!! Why it was ever an official release is baffling....We had a great time, obviously but theshow simply was not happening. Glad to see they realize it....not a big deal at all...

@@brandonvalentine2555 the Dead held no appeal to me after their first tour after returning from Europe in '72. Tedious, often times boring shows. Saw them in '74 and '77.
