The great Ray White, one of the great DJs, recently passed away. WLIR at that time was a wonderful station playing all kind of music. This is one of his many insightful interviews.

WLIR was the best NY area rock station. Period. Age 14. First time I ever heard Scarlet Begonias I was in Amityville in a 72 Malibu listening to this station. I was in love with the song immediately. Mars Hotel wasn't out very long. This station would play unreleased live music by all the big Names. Does anybody remember WLIR's Party in the Park? at Belmont?
@tommerolla87313 жыл бұрын
@@Jeff-S Vaguely remember the Party in the Park. They also sponsored free concerts at My Father's Place. Pick up the tickets at the station and enjoy the show. My first concert was a free LIR concert at MFP. Ray did an import show called "Off the Boat". Discovered some good bands that way. You remember the News Blimps?

Really nice, funny and mellow interview. The LIRR disc jockey-can’t recall his name and I’m from Long Island, man-had A-LOT OF GREAT questions. Jerry seemed very comfortable with these guys telling them stuff he’s talked about endlessly since the days of the Jenn Werner Rolling Stone interview for the “Signpost to new space”book in 1972. Very Groovy scene. Makes you miss ole Jerry. But he’s with you. Call out his name and just start talking. Nobody dies; they just shirk the flesh and move on to a higher dimension. Come on, think positively, man. Some day you’re going to see him and not in some holographic side show. FOR REAL!!!! There’s going to be a pole shift, the planet will stop its rotation for three days and then start up again in the other direction. And it will be at that time my Dead Head Friends, that The Resurrection will occur redemption assured and all of the little kitties will purr……. Into the MYSTIC! Sing it to me baby.

remember when that kid Adam Katz got murdered by those Nassau security thugs in '89? So sad. @@johnstallings4049 nice. I have nice 2 gen pre-fm's on tapes of that Wonderland show. I hope you got on the bus early enough to see the Wall of Sound. Nothing beat the Fall '91JGB tour for me and my ex(nothing compared to your 70's Dead of course). We did 9 shows out of 12, lots of guests, 'What a Wonderful World' encores, Killer Kahn etc...also, JGB shows weeded out most of the local college kids and the nitrous Mafia. If you could upload it with a program that could double the sound to both channels (it's only on the L channel, now), it would sound just fine!

@jpwjr11993 жыл бұрын
@@noturnleftunstoned72 Just a heads up - I don't know if it's the gain that would do it - you just need to make sure the signal is going to both the L and R channels. If it's not and only going to the L channel, there's probably a way of doubling it and sending it to the R channel, and viola! You have stereo style signal. I would need to remember that sound editor to know how to do it, but it shouldn't be that difficult. Thank you, man! Any WLIR stuff is great stuff, and a Garcia interview is fantastic!
