@@afahsieh172 Do you sing better when you are mid age than you were young at prime? Do you know any lyric tenor that sings stronger at later life than their prime? He was sick and died of sickness, but he still had great voice even before his pass.

beautiful beautiful rendition. as good as anyone. I love his very delicate pianissimos that contrast with his bright forward voice. I heard him in Cosi fan Tutti back in the early 80's in St. Louis before he was famous. He took the house down, he was so amazing. He was such a superlative Mozart tenor.

Hadley's career spanned the late 70s to the late 00s, barely a generation ago. And yet the kind of tenor singing he typified is all but gone-a fully developed chest voice taken all the way to the top and a head voice employed judiciously yet still and all anchored to a strong chest voice. None of the "mask" buzziness, none of the nasality, none of the tight squealing. None of the sounds you hear from today's supposedly good tenors. Just free, clear, ringing tones. What a loss.
