back in the day, millions of americans had been married young, it was rather normal. i knew several older couples who had married inthier teens, like the girl was 14 they guy was 17, etc. Most of our ancestors had some that young . Once past puberty, it seemed normal , and it seemed cruel and a waste to not let them marry if they really wanted to. Ideas have changed, and people are way too judgemental . Young marriage has been the norm for thousands of years. I know as a 13 yer old i wanted to get married to a guy 8 years older, a gorgeous young man i was in love with for years. But never got to marry due to restrictions, which made me depressed for a long time. Back t hen in the 1960's we weren't kids , we were more adult and responsible in those days. Just very young adults really, some of us, the early maturity ones. But some were still kids.
