I had a friend, now deceased because of Covid, who was a Jerry Lee Lewis fan. He saw Jerry Lewis in concert and later ran into him at a bar. He walked over to talk to Jerry Lee, who was stacking shot glasses up to a pond of about 4 inches. Jerry Lee looked at him and said, “do you wanna bet $20 can stack 10 of these?” My friend said, “no, but I’ll bet you $20 I can arm wrestle you and win.” They locked arms but before they can start, Jerry Lee’s handlers came running over and separated them, “Jerry Lee, if you break your arm or your wrist, will all be out of business.” My friend had the same build and was about the same age as Jerry Lee, so it would’ve been a very good match. My friend had a friend who was such a Jerry Lee Lewis fanatic, he named his boy, who would now be in his 50s, after Jerry Lee. This Jerry Lee Lewis fanatic saw him in every concert over the last 30 or 40 years of his life and had posters lining the walls his home. The posters alone are probably worth thousands of dollars.

I “discovered” Jerry Lee in 1968. I was 16. First song I heard... “One Has My Name”..... I think it was a cover of Ray Charles. I was captivated. A voice on the radio. That began a fifty year near obsession with the talent and greatness of this man. It is impossible to tire of listening to Jerry Lee Lewis. There is no American artist (not even the great Ray Charles) that can come close. He likes to say, “It was God that give me ma' talent. He can cut my water off at any time”. From John Lennon to Kris Kristofferson to Bruce Springsteen ....including Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins... (and hundreds more).... all have paid tribute to JLL as the greatest and most creative popular music artist of all time.... period!

@gynack4 жыл бұрын
@Mookie Spindlehurst He's still regarded by most as a Rocker, one of the original Rock'n'Rollers, the original Wild Man of Rock'n'Roll, etc. Great Balls of Fire and Whole Lot of Shaking Going On are probably his most famous songs. However, I prefer his Country music. It's what I listen to far more than his Rock. Nobody comes near him for tearing the emotion out of a song. His voice in the 60's and 70's particularly, had that lonesome, lost sound to it, that with his spontaneous sounding way of singing made him unique - and uniquely great - at so many songs. And. of course, there was that equally unique piano.
@gynack4 жыл бұрын
