I had the rare pleasure of seeing him during an intimate performance in Atlantic City during the mid 80s. Max 150 people. Jerry held nothing back. Flying expletives, audience god that he was. Very loving and appreciative soul. Everything I expected. In and out of character. Love you professor :-)

I worked on this show as a publicist when I worked at WABC-TV in the 70s. It was called A.M. New York & then changed to The Stanley Siegal Show (the only time the A.M. New York title was retired). The late Stanley Siegal started his show at 9 am every weekday morning in NYC. It was the highest-rated morning program until a rating war began when NBC imported Phil Donohue to compete with Stanley. Many major celebrities made appearances on Siegal's show (real survivors of the Titanic, actress Carol Channing, Sammy Davis, Jr., Elvis' former musicians from the 50s & the Jordanaires who recorded on his original 50s records, opera singer Robert Merrill, several wrestlers from the WWE including Ken Patera, & the late Bruno Sammartino, & Freddie Blassie. The most controversial, newsworthy appearance was with a high & totally intoxicated Truman Capote (on KZbin). Instead of taking advantage of Truman's condition, Siegal showed genuine concern for Truman on-air & it became a headline by noon. That was a busy day. He also had a psychiatrist psychoanalyze him each week on-air. A popular segment. Some guests including John Dean & John Haldeman of the Nixon Administration got on the couch. It was compelling television. Because Stanley came from Nashville prior to his NYC gig (the reason Jerry Lewis was on his show on this day. They met during Stanley's Nashville era). Stanley also knew Elvis Presley's former girlfriend Linda Thompson & managed the day after Elvis' death (1977) to get an exclusive interview with Linda. That was a busy day too. When Stanley's show ended former R&R/dance show host Clay Cole & TV journalist Janet Langhart hosted a new A.M. New York. This was the infancy of the A.M. New York team show. It led to Regis Philbin & Kathie Lee for many years & today the show is hosted by Kelly Ripa & Ryan Seacrest. The show came a long way -- but none were ever as compelling, intense, controversial & creative as Stanley. It was exciting. Jerry, Al Goldstein & Stanley -- have all passed. My claim to fame is The 4:30 Movie of the Week that the director of programming passed to me. So, I contributed to Planet of the Apes Week, Elvis Week, John Wayne Week, Richard Burton Week, etc -- and the media still sometimes still talk about these in print in TV nostalgia articles. My late press information for WABC-TV boss Judy Torello passed in Jan 2020. She helped make The Stanley Siegel Show a success & made it sparkle in the press. We managed to get guest listings in every issue of TV Guide when The Phil Donohue Show didn't. RIP Judy.

Brian Spenst It was fascinating to see those gadgets that were obviously the latest technology of the time, but now seem obsolete. Especially that ‘mobile phone’ that needed a big briefcase to carry it around, and now we have phones that we carry in our pockets, and can take photo’s and are connected to the internet (which wasn’t even thought of in 1976). Another thing when I was a child every year I went from door-to-door in my neighborhood to collected for the Muscular Dystrophy telethons and then took the money down to the branch in my city for the muscular dystrophy Telethon For all of those kids that had muscular dystrophy. What big star today would do that today none of them because they all just think of themselves (( YOU. KNOW I AM. TELLING )) (( THE. Apparently, Jerry gave a copy of the film to the Library of Congress in 2015, with the stipulation that it not be screened for at least 10 years. That doesn't guarantee that the film will be shown in 2025, though.

corrrrrrrrr still crushing on him.....he raised how much? Over 280 MILLION dollars during his Teleton's. I'm in Nz i didn't even know he hosted Telethons. If I was a hot shot actor and director I TOO would want to enjoy myself inbetween shoots and chill out and play basketball......why didn't the Crew go chill out and play BB as well. There were quite a few reasons this man became one of the biggest stars in the world...............he wasn't like everyone else. Personally i wouldn't want to be in any hurry, if I'm getting paid and someone draws out more days of work for me on a movie set if I'm a Crew member GOOD. Basketball it is.

LITTLE LATER IN LIFE He. changed he began to dedicate he life to all those kids. He a very good man because he busted his ass. and his whole life for the muscular dystrophy Association to raise money for all those kids. It's Just a Pity today there isn't a man like him that would do for the people and the children that are handicapped and have diseases that need the help. The problem is everyone thinks of themselves and not for the people that need the help that are handicapped
