What do you mean by “mark”? You’re talking like a wrestling fan with wrestling terminology. But yeah, Michale is a member of the group and he is expected to be a teammate and to be present when his team had work. He was young with minimal experience- clearly the veterans of the group were the ones to make the shots and understandably. Had Michale stuck around and proved to be dependable and mature, perhaps into the 00’s he would’ve been granted equal power within the Misfits.

@@albinobat7484No, he wrote some and the most popular ones like Saturday Night, and Dig up Her Bones completely by himself and then I believe he helped write a lot of the others in a more collaborative fashion. I read somewhere that Crawling Eye was written by Graves and Doyle, I wouldn't be surprised if those two were the main writers in that era as Jerry isn't exactly well known for his songwriting abilities. You can tell that Graves didn't write any of the uber aggressive riffs either because his solo debut album tutles Grave has a much more laid back punk riff style than the 90s Misfits had where Doyle was beating the power chords to death and doing string slides and pinch harmonics constantly 😂.

There needs to be a correction to why Graves didn’t show up to the first day of shooting the Scream video shoot. It had nothing to do with the Canadian border or missing paperwork. In the Eric Blair Part 3 interview, Graves gave a very vague response, the band was fractured, fighting, disorganized information of when the music shoot would be, how they would get to Canada, Doyle not being committed to showing up but eventually did, Graves eventually hearing that everyone is already on set, driving up a day later to join the rest of the band, etc. If I were Graves I would have just shown up and then discussed the issues post music shoot. The main issue is Jerry Only controlled the band too much and didn’t see other members as equal partner, also legally on contract. Understandably since he’s a founding member but so was Doyle and Graves was a huge asset as a singer.
@CSW994 Жыл бұрын

I would say this: they were always like this. We just know our heroes, stars, icons, and anyone else we've ever put on a pedestal before better now because of the internet. I got into the Misfits in 1988 at the age of 12. Same thing; I was I obsessed. Part of that came from the fact we as fans didn't really know anything at all about them. It was just the music, album art, a bootleg video of that Why Be Something You are Not show, and a story about them here and there. The lack of information about them made them magical to each of us individually as our own assumptions and perceptions of who they might be filled the voids. I realize that now with e every celebrity, person, crush etc. We do it with all people we don't know very well ,or at all. It's because of this realization I can now look past who the people themselves are, and still like the music. Or whatever it is. I've got a favorite football team. Would I actually want to know any of those guys? No, they're probably all meat head idiots. But it doesn't stop me enjoying what the do. Meeting Jerry Only was the first experience to teach me this. I still had this mythic, larger than life , horror- punk ideal about the guy. Met him at a signing. Seemed uninterested ( I don't blame him doing the same thing to a few hundred people). I went to shake his hand , and Jerry turned I to the Jerry business man immediately. It wasn't negative, but I left realizing my hero was just some dude that wasn't as cool as I thought he was. But I still love the Misfits.

To Jerry's credit... he at least TRIED to get the original Misfits singer, Glenn Danzig, on board but Glenn basically said "eff you, Jerry!!". Jerry then tried to get Dave Vanian (from "The Damned") as the singer, and for whatever reason, that fell through and didn't work. Besides Glenn Danzig... Dave Vanian would probably have been the only other singer I could see fronting the Misfits with any degree of credibility (Note: the Misfits traveled all the way to the UK to open for The Damned back in the early 1980's and Glenn had even offered to write a song for Vanian to sing. So, that does say something as far as the apparent relationship that the Misfits had with Dave Vanian. Besides (or other than) Glenn Danzig or Dave Vanian... the only other person that might have been a reasonable choice would've been someone like Peter Murphy from Bauhaus. With all that being said... what in the hell Jerry ever saw in that walking cat-turd Michael Graves, I will never know. To say nothing of the fact that Jerry had practically handed over what was surely a golden opportunity on a silver platter for that douchebag graves to sing in one of the most legendary and iconic American punk-rock bands... only for him to shit all over them. While I’m not disputing that Danzig was the better front man for the misfits in terms of the attitude and the image “punk vibe” he brought, Graves musically was unquestionably the better singer. He was like Corey Taylor, he could do all the harsh stuff but was able to have this beautifully melodic personality to his singing. Danzig has definitely improved in terms of the overall musicality of his voice and I’m not detracting at all from him, because he’s awesome, but I still back Graves over him purely from a music standpoint

Graves was like a coat rack standing in Glenn's spot. Graves songs were cheesy imitations of Glenn's. Graves struggled to sound like Glenn and still does.

Christopher Carnes thats because he wasnt trying to be man. Their lyrics, image and position as a frontman are too different to compare
