@@Salom2015 I’m his baby sister. Thanks for replying. I miss my big brother. When we were bringing him home in the hearse, my husband and some local truckers lined up and blew their horns. He always wanted everyone to know that he was in the neighborhood. They made a ton of noise. And he road motorcycles so some friends were the escort. I always thought my brother would slide off a mountain in Utah or have a heart attack and be found in a truck stop but never in my wildest dreams come home while burglars were in his house and get shot with his own gun. But I know he is on the other side doing well cause he is with my other brother and parents. Thank you for replying and always speak out to everyone that touches your heart.

Always loved that he wrote this while they were making the movie. He went to Hal Needham (the director) and mentioned he'd written a song the night before he thought might be good to use in the movie. Played it for him, and offered to change it any way Hal might think would be good...Hal looked at him and said 'If you change ONE THING in that song, I'll never forgive you!' And just like that it became the theme for the whole movie...

Not many realize that although Jerry Reed had banjos, country picking on guitars, and his unique approach to writing about the common man......his music often times has a funky rock driving beat and bassline. Jerry Reed is actually fusion to a musician's ear.

@@firemanganJerry Reed doesn't align with one genre. One of his influences may include bluegrass, but there's alot more going on with Jerry Reed's music than bluegrass on it's own. The best part of the soundtrack is the continuity in the movie. When Bandit and Snowman are heading down to Texarkana, TX, they're going westbound, which is why you hear "Westbound and Down" near the beginning of the movie. But later on when they find the truck convoy, they are going back to the Fairgrounds in Atlanta, GA, meaning they're going eastbound, so "Eastbound and Down" is playing. There's both an eastbound and westbound version of the song, because it tells us the direction they are travelling across the US at that time, "Westbound and Down" for heading to pick up the 400 cases of Coors Beer, and "Eastbound and Down" for when they are heading back to Atlanta to deliver the goods. Excellent continuity in the soundtrack.
@BradleyJuby5 жыл бұрын
Now I want to bootleg Coors to Atlanta.
@doughesson5 жыл бұрын
Fun Fact:Coors was never illegal East of the Mississippi River. They don't use preservatives in their beer & didn't have any breweries affiliated with the Coors corporation until the early 80s which is why they didn't sell the beer too far east. I was 15 or so when Coors became available in Tennessee so my Dad didn't have to buy it when we visited family in Oklahoma.
