I had long forgotten The Littlest Hobo which I saw in reruns in 1966 or 1967. One night 15 years later this song popped into my head. I almost started to cry as I started thinking of times gone by and how much I had loved the show. Nostalgia is brutal.

By being born in 1958, I am a member of the first generation of TV children, and this series meant a lot to us boys. Dogs meant the world to most of the boys of my era, and shows with dogs in them were our favorites. I met a lot of dogs like Hobo in the 1960's. They were aimless dogs who would drift into our neighborhood for a few days, then drift out again and head out somewhere else----trying to stay a few paws ahead of a dog catcher.

The greatest television series about an unbelievable dog since lassie. The song makes you cry and it really hits you hard especially for anyone whoever owned a pet and it has now died, this theme song really does something to you when you think about it!!!!!

THIS is the 1960's Littlest Hobo theme song that I remember most vividly as a child even tho I haven't heard it in decades. I thought it was wonderful that Hobo's real name is London and that I was born in London Ontario, watching the show in black & white on CFPL TV. My family & I moved to Toronto when I was 6. Sometime in the late 1960's we went to the Sportman's Show at the Canadian National Exhibition and got to meet London, and all the German Shepherd dogs that starred on the show. I'm pretty sure there were 5 of them!

Yeah, that’s what I read, actually just a few minutes ago! I happened to think about the ‘60s show today, don’t remember what set me to thinking about it, but I grew nostalgic to hear the old theme song. That’s what brought me here. I was born in 1950, so I was a teenager when I watched The Littlest Hobo in syndication. Unfortunately, I haven’t seen it since, and that’s a shame, since it was a good show.

Yeah! This is the theme song I was looking for. Thanks for posting it! It’s been so long since I heard it, I wasn’t remembering the words exactly right. I used to watch The Littlest Hobo in syndication back in the 1960s (I was born in 1950) and really enjoyed it, as did many other people, but I haven’t seen it since. A shame, it was a good show.

I saw the dogs at the Sportsman show at the CNE one year in the late 60s. There were 5 or 6 dogs, and they did all sorts of tricks. There was a big indoor pool that the dogs swam in too.

OMG!! I must be around the exact same age as you because I also went to the CNE in the late 1960's with my parents and met the Littlest Hobo dogs. I was amazed to find out that there was London and ALSO 4 or 5 OTHER German Sheppards that were the stars of the TV show! I got a black & white photo of them, signed by their trainer. One of the Sheppards leaned over and licked my Dad on the cheek! I said: "DAD! YOU WERE KISSED BY A STAR!" I reacted as if he had been kissed by Marilyn Monroe or Farrah Fawcett! I was so thrilled! Everyone loved it! LOL!

I think was on CFTO on Thursday nights at 7:30. I found out from a breeder that these were not normal German Shepards. They were bred with another breed to get the black and white color

That is the dog from 1963. It can't also be called "London", too, can it? I am sure they used two different dogs and the one in the 1980's was called "London". They probably named the second dog London in an effort to have people think it was the same dog. Either that, or London lived for over 25 years.

I think London from the 1980s remake was a descendant (grandson or great-grandson) of the original London from the 1960s series.

It could very well be the same family of german shepherds. Someone should look into that breeding stock: Docile, obedient dogs who can learn novel instructions in just a few lessons. Once you got that trait down, you of course want to keep the line going, not only for television/entertainment purposes, but also as comfort/assistants, police/guard work, and other helping capacities.

London's fine. He's at the farm, chasing ducks and rabbits and always getting into charging matches with the friendly bulls. And on weekends, children from in the city come and play with him.
