moogsy147 Much better times indeed. I'm 81½ and am constantly reminded how the world as we know it is being destroyed by technology and attitudes. Turn on one's TV today and it won't be too long before you're bombarded with frightful sensationalism featuring self-obsessed morons on programmes like Naked Attraction( grown adults bollock- naked on national TV groveling for dates!) and The Sex Clinic (again grown adults on National TV exposing us all to their rancid STD's and egos out of control!!) I believe this is what such things as FaceBook has created, monstrous creatures who believe everything about them and their lives is interesting to everyone else. Even as a young child this music touched my core and moved me to tears. Try as I might, I cannot rationalise my reaction to this piece, as for me, I describe it as an uplifting, energising experience. Yet still, raw emotion is immediately there from the opening note, as it always has been. Momentarily, I am lost to the journey; I am transported to another place; I am anticipating the next crescendo; I feel a genuine sense of comfort, warmth and complete security. Yes, articulated now through adult vocabulary, but if I’d had the words as a child to express my reaction to this music, they would have been the same. A powerful masterpiece.

I think I remember this show. I only ever watched it at my grandparents' house and it would have been reruns by that time (early 80s). This and The Black Stallion were some of my favourite shows to watch there. I went on to read the books and they were the favourites of my childhood.

@@LanceHarding just reading all of the responses, so many say how it makes them cry, brings tears to the eyes - me too, isn't it something that so many of us shared this in the same way ? I also remember this was the only time I was allowed to eat my tea watching television, any other evening it had to be at the table ! Thanks so much for posting this. It takes me right back and the memories of my Mum and Dad and my Nan - I feel blessed to have had them in the way we did then, just shows you what KZbin can evoke xx

@@minniemoocake The worst thing, was in the 1990's second episode where Beauty dies 1 week after Jenny emmigrated to New Zealand, where she received the letter from Doctor Gordon, boy did I cry then. Here is the title for the episode The New Adventures of Black Beauty 1990 Season 1 Episode 2 A Horse Like Beauty it is on here.

I've just clicked on this video straight after listening to the Settlers " Lightning Tree "" from Follyfoot and I'm amazed with the comments stating exactly the way I felt . " Sunday teatime " ! These themes remind us of our childhood when everything WAS so much better than today. Another theme for me is the one from Catweazle ! Nostalgia as they say , is a thing of the past but give me those days every time . The 70s was the best decade to be a kid .

I remember 1971 and the coal strikes ,no electricity for four of the days of the week, the snow for three months and reading by candlelight. All that seems easier than life today.

What a beautiful music theme of black beauty,, gives me goose bumbs, l've read the book on black beauty, as well as I had watched the TV series, brings back alot of good memories that sometimes I wish I could turn the clock back to the 70s and the 80s were days were much simpler and easier, and Sundays to watch black beauty, man, those were nice times, I sure miss it. Maybe l'll buy the DVD at a special store to find out if they still have that good ole times of black beauty, I really miss it. 😢
