Maybe somebody can refresh my memory on this. I always remember Jerry Lawler as being the real king of wrestling, but in the WWF they gave that gimmick to Harley Race. I recall him using this song, then when haku beat him to become king they gave him the song, then when Duggan became king, same deal he got the song along with the crown. I don't know if Randy Savage when he was "the Macho King" had the song, or if Mabel did. But what happened in regards to there being a king when Jerry Lawler moved to the wwf? By the way, I remember being 14 years old and a brand new WWF fan seeing Harley race wrestling as the king in the WWF and being absolutely enthralled with it not because I liked the gimmick, but because I thought it was the stupidest thing I'd ever seen at that point. A guy who looked like he was 90 years old parading around like a clown with a crown. 😂

There wasn't a King when Jerry arrived around Royal Rumble 93 time in the WWF so he self-proclaimed as the King of the WWF. He was just an announcer whose only ring action was in the 30 men Royal Rumble. Then King of the Ring 93 happened and he confronted Bret Hart who won the tournament and having a problem with Hart being called a King. Bret called him out for not even having the courage to enter the tournament in the first place and coined the Burger King moniker on him. Lawler attacked him and started his first feud in the WWF (that would go on and off for 2 years). At Summerslam 93, he faced Bret for the title of true King of the WWF and he won by DQ when Bret refused to release the Sharpshooter for several minutes. Even though he left on a stretcher, he got declared the undisputed King of the WWF.
