I was at MSG in the early 60s for a game with West. The Knicks weren't much in those days and the Garden emptied out by half-time. I roamed down near the court and saw this guy, long arms, big hands, lifting off the court and shooting that beautiful jump shot. The ball left his hands around the height of the basket and it softly swished through the net. I thought -- oh now I get it! Honestly I can still see Jerry shooting that shot. I think I also saw Wilt around then -- he lifted Willis Reed off the court and dunked it. What an athlete!

Oh man, Andre and Evan, thanks for starting up this podcast. And to have The Logo on! Oh man! It was reassuring to me to hear him talk about moving the ball with more passes and less dribbling. I grew up in Indiana, where high-school basketball was referred to as "Hoosier Hysteria." Man, we learned to pass the ball four or five times before even looking for a shot. It wasn't an accident that passing the ball five times made it into the movie "Hoosiers," because that's really what they taught us back in the day! And that's why it's so much more fun to watch the Dubs than it is to watch teams where they give it to their superstar and get out of the way. Good stuff, men! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Agree. I’m from Gary, Indiana. HS in the 80s - going to Purdue and Indy for semis and state was always epic, even rooting for a conference rival if they made it out.

The first NBA game I ever watched on TV was the 1970 finals between the NY Knicks and LA Lakers. I was 12 yrs old growing up in Puerto Rico. Jerry West was there and I immediately became a fan of both teams. Thanks to that series I fell in love with basketball and to this day it's the only sport I'm really passionate about. I like others like baseball for instance but nothing really close to basketball. During the last 7-8 yrs I've become a GS fan and so that's where I'm these days. Thank you Evan and thank you Andre for such a great podcast and for having Jerry. Andre, us Warriors fans are counting on you to become part of the coaching staff at some point even thought to a certain extent you've already been playing that role. Be safe y'all. Btw, I love dogs so hearing Jerry's dog barking in the background was a plus. Loved it.

It's amazing how Evan Turner stood his ground when there was something was wrong in Jerry West's assessment of the media narrative between the father's of Ja Morant and Karl Anthony Towns. There seems to be a miss with Jerry West's relationship with his father that he does not want his father to watch him play or Jerry West does not want the basketball world to focus on his dad. Maybe, there should be a need for healing right there...

This podcast is one of the best or if not the best podcast by an athlete... However, this podcast make the same mistake that other podcast by athletes make... They make comments about politics without doing good serious research... If you going to make those comments about political things, please do diligence and do proper research.

OMG. That clip at 7:30 up to about 10:00 speak mountains of truth. Regardless of which team you are a fan of, you want all of this stuff cleaned up and have the calls be more consistent. At the same time, players and their teams can't keep crying to the refs or the league offices every time they feel they have been screwed for a foul call. There has to be some level of sportsmanship between the teams and the refs. Its a tough balance, because players are competing but this kind of complaining and bad calls wear on the fans and minimizing these events makes the game more enjoyable overall.
