Same. I love my EVLs but that doesn’t mean they are the best. I’ve been beating them daily, in my truck loaded with tools all day on a Korean board Wolfram 7500. They never skip a beat. Again, with that said I understand the products I have and paid for is not the best and not the beefiest by any means.

Skar VFX & Skar Zvx are just as good as any other type brand sub OUT THERE, but for a cheaper price. I have the Orion hcca 15s, and audiopipe bd4, and xfls. The skar vxf 15s get louder than all the 15s that I played with. The skar zvx 12s are like the loudest 12s you can get for the money. PERIOD !!! AND IT'S NOT ALL ABOUT WHAT YOU RUN, BUT ALSO HOW YOU RUN IT, AND HOW YOU TUNE IT... PEACE OUT ✌️

I have a 18" Evl rn. Very impressed with what it can do for an single sub! I think it's a great starter sub imo. But heck no, it's not no Sundown NS v5 18. Nor is it a HUTCHINSON NDFEB2-18 (ect.) But I don't have the electrical for a big boi subwoofer. So this Skar, Evl at that, is doing me just fine for now Maybe one day I can upgrade! Looking forward to your new build Jerry!

My goal since starting car audio has always been a 150db. Started with power accoustik gothic subs and rockville amp. Now i have 2 15in vxf and a crescendo bc 6k. And still cant get that 150. Originally i did have 3 vxf 15s and blew 1. Im still workin on that 150 score.💪💪 thanks Mr. Jerry!!!

As someone that just returned to the hobby, I picked up a Skar VFX 15" and a Skar SKv2 1500.1. even went as far as to purchase the Skar prefab enclosure, $750 for pretty much a full setup minus wiring. I ran it a few weeks and felt like I wanted to continue on with the hobby further, my friend has been running the Skar setup I bought, and it sounds pretty badass for a prefab 15 in a Honda Ridgeline. Sounded good in my Jeep as well. Im fortunate enough to been able to upgrade to nicer stuff fairly quick. But that being said, if I weren't as fortunate as I am now, I would have been happy with the Skar until I was able to upgrade. Absolutely nothing wrong with them, and I've had Skar stuff before in the past, not much as changed between then and now, I still think Skar performs well within their price range. Hence why I grabbed them first to see if it were something I wanted to go further with, so I'm not out thousands of dollars then decide I just didn't like it anymore. And I've seen some pretty wicked Skar builds, like the one dude with 4 Skar ZFX 15's doin 153 @ 20 hz with a 6th order blowthrough. Hard to complain about that. Sure there are louder but that's damn loud for a budget sub!

I’ve been watching your vids now for about a month and I always learn something new from every video. I have Skar EVLs and I’m learning now about subwoofers so I definitely would of made another choice if I knew in advance. They play every day and I’ll play them until they blow. By the way, heard from a bird that you designed the enclosed for Travis H 96 xj that I now own. Hope to have it playing by the end of summer. Love all your vids, always looking for new vid drops too. I'm still learning and trying to get bigger and better and I think the most important part of a build is safe electrical. As long as you have good grounds and proper size wiring and fusing run what you can afford. Be safe and stay loud 👍🔊🔊

I have two star 8s it no where near the best but it was my starters in my Lincoln towncar and I had a lil bit of money found a very cheap 12 sub in blaupunkt very cheap subs and I had a Hifinics amp in it for the 8s but I had to get bigger amp to give enough power mine is a very cheap build but I love it. One day I wanna get some g2 subs. So now 2 12 blaupunkt and 2 8 star

Great video! I've ran a few skar subs and I agree the VXF is the best line especially if you look at the TS parameters. I am running 2 VX 15's on a DD 6k at .5. Run what you can afford !

I’m currently running (1) Sundown SDDN 18 on a Wolfram 7500.1 @.5. But I will tell you one of my favorite systems was (2) EVL 12 on a Cab 1600.1 @.5 did a 150.2 super cheap system sounded good and never got smelly, system is still in use to this days

Man when i got started back in the mid 90's,i could only buy second hand equipment. Honestly their was some systems that had the newest and greatest,but was still louder than them. New school has no idea how expensive just a 500 watt mono amp was,and before that it was 2 channel only,still way more expensive than today. Technology has come so far from 20 + yrs ago.

I’ve ran a skar evl 12 for awhile, jerry you’re absolutely right on this I liked it at the time but looking back it’s not what it’s made out to be. I’ve ran four sundown SA 12’s, even two SA 12’s, I’ve had decent brand names.. even alpine type R series 12’s, to me it’s all a preference. I remember when people were being a fanboy over the Orion hcca subs and I’ve never been a fan of the brand myself.. nobody actually pays attention to what people are saying in these videos at all majority of people take pieces out of it and think it’s just a bashing video when it’s truly not. Everyone has an opinion and this is Jerry’s so the ones who bash him on here or TikTok y’all are just paying the man to cry in the comment section which is ridiculous lol. Same here, i run vxf 12s now, had sa15d4rev3, rockford fosgate, all where good. It depends on what you want or looking for. Musical, space, budget. I ran kick comp cvr15s old ones lived all of them. Ppl need to grow up stop getting butt hurt over someone else's opinion. I don't like the evl but a buddy runs 4 of them and he loves it which i loved it because he was happy with it. Be happy with what you have and stop worrying about other's. The b2 are nasty the nsv5 are nasty like the fi neo4.0

I have a single EVL 12 and i love it it flex’s my windshield and doors and what not but I do agree it isn’t very efficient with power I have it on a 1500 watt skar amp and it definitely seems like it could be louder it’s in a 2.75 cuft box tuned to 32 hrz but I have people trash me about skar all the time I know there’s better stuff and I like my stuff but like you said I’m happy with it and it’s enough for me I’m not trying for a trophy or anything by no means love the videos man absolutely agree with everything you say

As someone who has built PA drivers, Subwoofers, did 1000's of recones, custom built subs and speakers and more over the years, Skar isn't a bad brand to use. Kevin really doesn't design or do much R&D for his subs and amps. The build house that builds the EVL subwoofers, will sell those to you unbadged, for about $35-40 per 12" with a MOQ(minimum order quantity) of about 40-50 pcs. When we were talking to that particular build house, they sent over the info on that subwoofer, and I immediately asked if it was the EVL, and after talking a bit on the overall design of it, and the specs and so forth, we automatically declined, a possible thought of bringing any over for testing. Its a sloppy subwoofer, all around. It doesn't even look good on paper. The motor design is OK, but uses lower grade ferrite, and is not properly charged, to its potential. It needs to have the coils ran in series, to get any good BL out of that motor. Granted, most all subs perform better in series, so you can maximize the BL, but..this sub just isn't even close to being efficient that way either. The subs do like to play a lower frequency above all else, and that's due to the heavier copper coil, and more moving mass it has. We also work with the build house, that builds their amplifiers, and they do not really design those either. But, remember this...almost everything is built in China, just rebadged, tweaked and so forth. Even B2 subs are built in China. It's all about the R&D that companies actually put into their products, and not just being another Me 2 product, with a different name. Skar is a decent company, with decent products for the most part. They're fairly affordable, and mainly because they keep their products and designs, left in the hands of the build houses, and that costs them less.

If you're happy with it, good. If you're not, happy shopping. I personally have a Skar 12" sub and a RP1200.1D. It mystifies everyone who has had a demo. They keep looking around trying to find out where the rest of subs are hidden, lol. It has more to do with the build quality than anything else. I have a very large cabin in my 02' Mitsubishi Montero XLS and it's heavily coated with second skin dampener pro, not a vibration to be heard anywhere outside the vehicle. 3rd... Why do I run Skar? It was given to me for free😂,why else? Love your content and educated opinion, keep it up.

I have had a good experience with my evl18s...I will add one more thing about them...I rebuilt a field destroy, and the new cone was deeper and went with a carbon fiber dust cap...EVLs sound good to be original...But my rebuild sounds even better...gets lower and sounds cleaner doing it...maybe its a deeper cone moves more air? Or maybe lighter dust cap..No idea, but i was impressed with my rebuild

It all depends on your electric on how big and how many that's the key if you have big alternator and extra batteries with subs to be loud high dB watts per meter and box power to coil is key

Literally just got my set of evl 12s with the bass package they offer going with this was more of a get started kind of deal for me 818 for the whole thing wasn’t bad (although I won’t be using the wiring kit that comes with it) I’ll use it and while I am go ahead and upgrade my electrical system in my Tahoe (it’s an 09 in case anyone has any recommendations for me with it) then once that’s done I’ll upgrade my amp and subs and give this system to my son as something to get his foot in the door.

Actually skar subs are more for ppl with kids who aren't able to bump everytime they get in the car and have to choose a good balance between taking car of kids and having alittle system that's decent and cheap go with skar. Im running a set of zvx15v2 D2 subs wired down to half ohm "0.4" reading on my fluke and a planet audio tr4000.1d amp. I have a taramps bass 8k that I am in process of wiring up and is half mounted in my ride and am about to see what these skars can take and possibly find what they cant. I think they are okay subs though and honestly may try some db subs if these dont give me more broken jeep parts.

If you are going for a high spl build I don’t know why you would go evl small motor big coil not going to be efficient. But it’s a good fit for a daily build, last forever sounds decent. Vxf definitely the best sounding skar sub hands down. Is there better, absolutely. Like obviously hahaha. I feel skar makes a decent product especially for the dollar they sell them for. I run 2x vxf 15s I like them and I overpower them. For $280 it’s a hell of a sub.

So true I started builds with SKAR and they beat but it was the money factor ! 20 boxes later and a lot of skars blown I tried American bass and they did good! Running 2 sundown zv6 now and I love them but the only subs I ran that compared to sundown is resilient sounds I would be running them now for half the money u can’t beat them. But Amazon had the sundowns 25 % off and I had to jump on that 😂 but if u wanna good sub for half the cost the RS platinums are the way to go

Serious question ⁉️ I got 2 sundown sa15's in a 4th order blow through on a taramps md3k @1ohm clamping 1300 watts rms so I was wondering if I could maybe put a bass 5k if they would handle it my box is 20'sq and my sealed is 5'1" port is 14'9" I'm getting 146.0 @37hz I think with a 5k I can do 150's

Hay brother! First off let me say i love your videos and wisdom. Second could you share some of that wisdom with me please? i am going to get a system for my nissan quest van. it is a very big long van with lots of space inside , 3 rows of seats that lay flat! i want to stay as cheap as possible but still have a crisp hard hitting sound from my subs. i want to go with a Skar rp-2000.1 amp and run 2 Skar 12 inch subs. but what 12 inch subs would work best for me with that amp? i can build any size box, i have plenty of room. was thinking about going with the ddx subs or the vxf subs but im not sure if that amp would would have enough power for those subs as i want it to hit hard!. what would you suggest for me? or any other cheap amp or subs around 2000wats can you suggest that might work better and still be as cheap as skar. im on a tight budget! and dont want to screw this up. By the time i buy the DSP and mids and tweeters and wiring and blocks & another battery and a smaller amp for that im already going to have a lot in this so i need to stay under 600 for the amp and subs. I watch a channel called MyStonerMind who uploads "your bass vids"; starting out he didn't have a lot of submissions so you'd often see in his videos, vlips of people with little junky speakers 8" and below with no names and trying silly stuff; but I'm always happy to see what someone has built to put it in or whatever situation they can find useful for the things

I was thinking about getting EVL's until I watched your other video. As much research I did and learned about TS parameters I had no idea about that motor force calculation. Everything I could find just said BL was motor force, not squared and divided by resistance. Went with 2 XFL 12's and couldn't be happier. When calculating motor force, is the RE parameter the resistance of 1 voice coil, both voice coils added together, or the resistance you're going to wire it at? For example if it's dual 4 ohm coils do you divide by 4, 8, or if wiring in parallel do I divide by 2? Thanks keep up the great content!

I quit running skar due to the fan base..American bass has always been my favorite subwoofers, but its the price of the AB that kills me..I really wanted to get the new godzilla 18" but 1000 its just to much for me...I bought a trinity audio TAS-M18 that will come in the mail this tuesday...I hope i made a good choice..AB comp is a 500 oz motor..The trinity is a 650 oz motor..Plus the trinity is 560.00 thats a expensive sub for me but its obtainable.

When i think of horrible subs i think PLYE, LANSER, PYRAMID lol..My standards are not as high as most i guess lol..Ive had power acoustic subs i was very happy with same for there amps..IDK as long as i can beat the crap out of it for a good period of time it is good in my book..But my standards are lower than most i guess lol..

Hey man I bought a ds18 4 channel about 8 months ago and had hooked it up and it wasnt even as loud as my head unit, with that being said I had hooked up my previous amp(vr apx400) the exact same way and it was loud again. What I'm asking is what's your experience with their 4 channels, did I get a dud? Or is their bread and butter monoblock amps? Just would like to hear so honest feedback from a well seasoned owner of ds18; aka ds18longbeard 😂 thanks for the input man.

I agree 💯💯💯 with your opinion on skar speakers,well the evl anyway...crap but I have to give them props on their amps.i have 2 rp 1500 on 4 L7 15 s and they get all they want all day with no prob. $160 budget amp can't beat em. Love the content
