This is from a live concert performance of the Four Tops in Miami in 2004. It has to be one of the last performances of the late great Levi Stubbs.

The Great Levi Stubbs, true to his wife (married for 48 years), 5 children, and loyal to his song mates ( offered to star on his own, but stuck with his mates!). Great singer and solid man. I loved the man's voice!

A truly great artist! One of the very best lead singers of all time. The thing most impressive he could have had the part in Lady sing the blues, the one that was expertly played by Billy Dee Williams, yet he turned it down because of his loyalty to his best friends the other 3 members of the Four Tops. Very few, if any would be so unselfish in the eras of time when most people are all about themselves when it comes to money and fame.

This song was first releaed in 1983. Whitney sang her version in n 1996, so there's no way that anyone can believe that it is originally hers. This group was sensational, and they stuck together from label to label, and for decades as a group. 💕 🎶

Just going through my CDs, absolutely loved Levi. I want this son playing at my own funeral. Just to tell my husband as I never told him enough, that I loved him, that I was so grateful to him throughout 58 years of happy marriage. Dearest Livi, saw him and the 4 tops a few times in the UK. Luckily I am a born and bred Londoner, lived in London and whenever the group came to the UK we went to see them. We were so lucky to see them live. Was a fan since the 1960’s and remember seeing Little Stvie and Diana’s and the Surpremes on Ready Steady Go, on a top TV. Program. Us Brits loved Motown.👏👏👏💕🇺🇸🇬🇧💕

Levi Stubbs performed with his heart inside out. So in touch with the feelings of his soul. I have rarely - if ever - seen a man perform live with more connection to what he was saying in the lyrics of his songs. This is how it's done.

I just love on all of their live performances, including this superb one, when his bandmates rejoin Levi on the stage for the "bridge" of the song ("maybe I'm a fool..."). The harmony there under Levi are just so exalted...so celestial. And what can we say about Mr. Stubbs? Can we love this gentleman any more than we do? Even here, when he was not his best and struggling a little; his honest and noble approach to his song gives me a lump in my throat. His gorgeous intonation makes this performance supersonic. What a moment!!!

I will never ever forget the day Levi left us on Oct. 17, 2008. When the news broke here in Detroit i cried for hours and a month out. I know this concert did not take place in 2004. He had a stroke in 2000 that left him in a wheelchair. I saw the Tops at the Dearborn Homecoming in 2005, it was so bittersweet because Obie had passed a month before. But when they brought Levi out onto the stage that entire packed Ford Field Park erupted, I was just 6-7 rows in front of the stage yelling at the top of my lungs I love you Levi with thousands of others. He started crying and all of us with him. What a talent, one of the best set of Pipes ever in the music Industry Period! The Four Tops were always and forever will be my fav. male Motown Group. Rest in Paradise - Levi, Lawrence & Obie.

I saw the Tops in Atlantic City for my 40th birthday. That was 1994. I was in the front Rowe. Levi was already sick. He sang this song alone on stage and could not walk off stage. He shuffled off with help as he was going off. Such a tragedy. The other Tops talked to the audience in the middle of the show and Levi left the stage to rest. You could see he was giving it everything he had.
