The extra screw is for that threaded hole partially underneath the LED flash. The metal-rubber bracket is supposed to be used to keep the bottom board's connector fixed in place in case you drop your phone.

well when I took apart my old Fujitsu laptop (to put new CPU and GPU thermal paste in and clean the fans), I found I had 1 screw less than required to put it all back together... and no, I didn't lose the last screw. One day I opened my laptop for the first time and there's one screw that didn't hold into anything then I continue opened it and cleaned my laptop. After that I put everything back together and the screw actually holding one of a HDD bracket hole. It did NOT. He started at 1% and the system was booted up. If you have a true 0% phone, thus the battery is dead, then you need those extra 2 minutes and maybe even more. Some phones even take minutes just to power up when the battery is fully depleted and you hook the charger up.

The bracket go on the flex cable on the bottom in the right side and the screw go under the flash LED !! btw battery are usually install in last just before the bezel with the charging coil, you lift the flex cable and install it... I have OCD so for me the screws are a big requirement.

I have a feeling those leftovers are the holding bracket for the batttery cable connector. I've seen a couple of cellphones that have that to make sure the battery never disconnects by accident whenever there's any impact.
