As a Chinese user who already owned OnePlus 12 for almost 2 months and been upgraded from OnePlus 9 Pro, there're some points I want to share: 1. It looks and feels pretty good, especially the camera module. It really looks like a premium watch face (better than the OnePlus 11's). 2. White color is using the glossy back glass. Just like my iPhone SE3, it's extremely slippery. So be very careful if you purchased. 3. The new BOE OLED screen is indeed very bright even under the sunlight, and significantly improved compared to the old Samsung E4 OLED display. With latest firmware update, you can get 800 nits via manual brightness control (fullscreen). 4. Vibration motor is now comparable to the iPhone's. iPhone gets more feedback details. But judging only by the power of the motor, they're very close. 5. Ambient sound effects can significantly improve the mid and low freuency to make the voice and beats sound better. (Turning it off increases the volume, but the high freq is not very pretty) 6. SD 8Gen3 performs just like what you will expect. It only gets warm, never hot, even in the games. 7. Main camera is good but the ultra wide and telephpto are okay. Those two are not bad, just nothing special. 8. Battery life is impressive. 9. NFC still can be used even if your battery is dead and the phone turned off completely, and yes, I've tested it. NFC only draws power from receiving device, not your phone. Think about your "touch and pay" kind of cards in your wallet. 10. The signal strength of the cellular and Wi-Fi are impressive. But the software is struggling with switching to the better Wi-Fi hotspot. 11. That silent swtich is now more resistant so you won't accidently activate the silent mode when you're taking your phone out from the pockets. 12. Most of the time, it charges at 73 watts maximum (shown by LSPosed+LuckyTool module, not a physical ammeter), not 100W but still fast. 13. Rumor about the "gap" between the camera module and backglass is true, but not as serious as you think. It have a gap, only if you are watching very closely, and can be completely ignored if you're using phone cases. (Note: this rumor is based on Chinese articles and only represents the early batches) 14. Yes, it can be bootloader unlocked and magisk rooted, without losing your warranty. But rooting is not as simple as the Google Pixel. Not too hard though.

As a user from India, I used to use the OnePlus 6 for about 2 years. Then, I upgraded to the OnePlus 9 Pro. When I switched, I felt like OnePlus had changed; it seemed a bit expensive, and I didn't feel the same as with the old OnePlus 6. Maybe it was my own problem, but I got used to it. Still, in my mind, I thought this would be my last OnePlus; next time, I'll switch to something better like Samsung or iPhone. After 1 year of using the 9 Pro, the green line showed up. I was out of warranty, but they had the courage to say it was their mistake and fixed it for me. After a year, the line showed up again, and they fixed it again. That's twice. I've seen Apple and Samsung phones have the same issue in the Indian variants, and the company refused to fix for their customers. When the OnePlus 12 launched, I got a really good exchange plan, and the OnePlus 12 is an excellent upgrade from the 9 Pro. The battery life is top-notch, the camera is more than enough, and Oxygen OS feels as smooth as it was before.

Definitely a long-time OnePlus user here. I've had 2 phones in the last 8 years. OnePlus 3T and OnePlus 7T. This 7T still works way better than I need a phone to be. I don't see myself replacing this 7T any time soon. I compared my old 3T (end 2016) to a friend's Samsung Galaxy S8+ (early 2017) after both phones had been sitting in a drawer for a year. The Samsung S8+ had developed a bloated battery that cracked the back glass while it was in the drawer. 😮 I replaced the battery and it works again, but its new battery keeps a charge only half as long as the older 3T with all original parts. OnePlus makes phones that last! I absolutely love their main line of phones and I'll always go for their products first. 👍 My two most-used OnePlus features that I cannot live without now: Alert Slider and Off-screen gesture for flashlight.

It really is amazing how far they've come. Op12 provides 90% of the experience of the s24 ultra (speed, resolution, refresh rate, battery etc), lacks a little behind in terms of camera, but that's only when you compare auto to auto mode. In manual camera mode, you can get much closer to the type of results the s24u produces. All that for 40% less in price compared to said flagship. If I take it out of the case the back glass isn't even attached because the battery has swollen so much. I didn't notice until the last time I took it out of the case to clean. Until somebody publishes a systematic study on the topic, I will continue to assume that charging at those speeds will age the battery quicker than charging at slower speeds. A large Vapor chamber to distribute the heat is nice, but there is only so much you can do. Heat transfer to a glass screen is inherently very limited, glass is just not a good thermal conductor. Also, the Vapor chamber connects both batttery and processor. If one gets hot, it transfers heat into the other. But what happens if you game while being plugged in?

Yeah. I LOVE the green color. I really wish more manufacturers would offer a green color. There was a generation of the Galaxy S (I wanna say the S6) where there was a beautiful emerald green one. But it was only sold in cert markets (not in the US). IDK if there was even a model you could import that had the bands to work with a US carrier or not. But man I wanted one so bad. I'm upgrading my phone and shopping around. I'm 99% sure I'm going with the OP12. My last ~4 phone have been Samsung. And I've loved them. My current one (Note 20 Ultra 5G) is the first I've had a issue with. The battery has started swelling. To the point that the back glass is no longer attached. It still works because it's in a case. But if you take the case off the back glass has a large gap because it's balancing on the swollen part of the battery. Plus I don't like sticking with one brand forever for most things, so looking forward to trying a different brand for the first time in many many years. And my first OnePlus phone. And when I checked the Best Buy where I live just happens to have ONE OP 12 green, 512GB storage / 16 GB RAM in stock.

OnePlus' confidence is on another level for sponsoring a teardown
@pestiPTD10 ай бұрын
I'm sure that has nothing to do with confidence... IMO, they sponsored teardown to avoid durability test during pre-order period. It's been 6 days since launch (5 days since teardown video) and there is still no durability test... coincidence? I don't think so

Very good looking phone, especially the back. Not sure about their software though. Ive heard many good and many bad things, so much so that i dont know any specifics anymore. Cameras also seem to be fine, but nothing special, which could and should be improved. The Hasselblad branding seems to be there solely for the purpose of being there. Patiently waiting for the S24 Ultra teardown so we can see what kind of titanium solution Samsung has used in their frame. Im guessing its the same as the iPhone.

I'm actually about to go to Best Buy and buy a OP12 (was already leaning towards the OP 12, then I saw that the Best Buy where I live has ONE OP12, 512 GB storage / 16 GB RAM, in Green in stock). Gonna go grab it today or tomorrow. My Note 20 Ultra 5G has a pretty bad problem lol. The battery is swelling, so much that it's pushed the back glass off. It only stays on when the phone is in a case. Obviously that's not a good sign. My last like 4 phones have been Samsung. And I've been super happy with them, and this battery thing is the first problem like this I've had. But I want to give something different a try. So after looking around I've settled on the OP 12. I'm very curious to see what the software is like as well. I've heard mixed things too. Nothing too negative. Mainly that people were really underwhelmed with the Android 14 update and how little it brought compared to what other brands are doing. And how the majority of new features were just a word salad of buzzwords with no real explanation of what they are or do. The "Trinity Engine" with CPU, ROM, and RAM "Vitalization", "HyperBoost" "HyperRendering", "HyperTouch" "Device Security Engine 3.0" all with vague descriptions again with mostly just buzzwords. The only new features that do seem like nice additions are "File Dock" and "Auto Pixelate 2.0". It does seem most people agree Oxygen OS 14 is very snappy and fluid etc. so that's def a good sign. But I'm glad to see they have a software update guarantee (four years of Android OS updates, and five years of security patches for the OP12). Most of what I've looked at looks pretty good IMO. They have some features that are must have for me like a "File Vault" equivalent (being able to encrypt files), I never use it, but they also have the thing where you can install two dif instances of the same app. A theme engine and theme store, seems to have lots of customization built in (being able to mix and match themes, icon packs, accent color, quick settings icon style etc). I like the look of it overall. But the software and really a phone in general is something you have to actually use for a bit before you know how you like it.

As an until recently owner of One Plus 5T (my second One Plus purchase, after their first One Plus 1), I can tell that the phones are well built and last long. I had bought mine at the beginning of 2018 and used it until the end of 2023 - for an unbelievable 6 years, which in smartphone years must be something like 120 years. I still have the phone and it still holds charge for a full day of activitiy, and age has not slowed it down to an extent that it becomes unusable. They were ahead of the curve while building it - 8 GB memory, Qualcomm Snapdragon 835s Octacore processor IIRC, and 128 GB memory worked fine over the years. Only now I realize that the thin, curved back, anodized aluminum shell device had a pronounced bezel - that took up screen real estate. But overall, I would say it held up pretty well over the years, across multiple trans-Atlantic travels!
