Just bought some ear buds from CMF a few weeks ago, they were on sale for like $26 and I needed some cheap replacements for using around the house and out in the garden. So far I'm impressed, they have good battery and range and don't sound like garbage. Excited to see more budget and mid range phones, plenty of room for smaller companies to come in and undercut existing brands.

The thing is… it’s not a matter of price. Companies could make all damn phones have a replaceable battery. But that means less profit in the future by making you buy a new phone when your battery stops lasting as long as before, so they hit two birds with one stone. Sell you a new device so then they can keep up with planned obsolescence.

It would've. Removable batteries require a protective casing to avoid puncture, beffier connectors, identifier and communication circuitry. Here in Europe you can easily find phones sub 200 with oled+high refresh rate. 60hz oleds are at least 15 years old tech(I'm sure Samsung galaxy S4 already had an oled since I had one). This phone uses a subpar camera for the price range, a subpar chip for the price range, but has really good design and software so nothing for sure doesn't have the same margin as a 200 dollars Xiaomi/Samsung/Motorola/Oppo group phone just because they have for sure a smaller line and they clearly invested in design+ecosystem but no they are not losing money they build a pretty average phone for the price with some compromises to allow the fun gimmick.

its a really underrated phone. cameras not that bad, excellent performance, it can run games like pubg in 80-100 fps in lowest settings. although the fingerprint sensor sucks. it does very well in staying cool, no heating in doing daily tasks or playing games does not effect that much. also offers loud speaker despite just 1 stereo speaker. loved its 120hz display and the classic nothing os ui, its lagless and offers a smooth experience. but if you want a very good camera smartphone, dont go for it

I attempted repairs and battery replacements to my phone by myself, and i kid you not, seeing this CMF 1 here, i believe it is by far one of the easiest, i mean it's just sticker, peel it off a bit and unscrew the screws and battery with its connector is exposed.. it is far far easier than any of the glass-back smartphones..

Even if battery was removable you were not going to swap it often.... Backup as well as charging speed is so good nowadays... It's only after 2 or 3 years you will need to replace it which will take only a few minutes as you only have to unscrew a few screws and pull it up..... So it is better to keep it glued firmly placed... Then why people are disappointed... It's just stupid...

I'm a phone repairer, and on Nothing's defense, they have kept replacing the battery VERY easy to be honest. they probably just don't encourage it for everyone, because phone batteries have gotten wayyy better over the years, and people don't need to hot-swap a spare battery in like for cameras; and also for warranty issues.
