@Nativetalkz Same sentiments from me. If there's one thing that REALLY, REALLY puts as bug up my ass is when scumbags (i.e. the mob in this case) take out a perfectly decent person, which from what I gathered Jimmie Rodgers was. I like and know a number of artists from different genres, but never heard of Jimmie before this video. Damn near killed the poor guy...over money that HE was due!! I hope karma got those mafia bastards BIG TIME.
@trukeesey87152 жыл бұрын
@@mikes3827 He couldn't have been decent. Almost all of the associates shown in this videograph were satanists of one kind or another, and had done "bad things" to advance their careers. He couldn't have had that much contact with them without finding out that they were satanists, anti-Christians, atheists, witches, and so on. Too much contact for him not to have known. And to advance that high in the career he had to do "bad things" it is always a requirement among that network of "moguls" and controllers.

I grew up listening to him sing but never knew what he was going through until hearing this online. What a shameful situation that he was treated like this, while making others rich. Sounds like he wasn't protected by the people who made their living off his talent...he didn't have one decent person in his working life or one decent friend. That's pitiful and doesn't speak well of the people who made their living off his talent. He had a beautiful voice.

Thank you for this documentary about Jimmie Rodgers. In May of 2001, I interviewed both Jimmie and his manager (then in Branson) by telephone for our college newspaper's alumni column. There are several things mis-mentioned or not mentioned here that I will correct. Jimmie started at Clark College with the intention of becoming a mechanical engineer (his music class was secondary at the time) but was drafted to the Korean War during the first quarter of school. When he was sent back to The States, he was sent to Nashville which worked out well for his career. He said he always regretted not finishing college and advised others to do so. After Buddy Holly's 1959 death in a plane accident, Jimmie, who was close friends with Buddy, considered leaving the business and returned home to Camas to sort out his feelings. At the time of his being beaten in 1967 and left for dead, his manager and Col. Parker were in negotiations for Jimmie to appear with Elvis in Blue Hawaii. At that time, he already had 19 gold records! After the attack, it took 15 years for him to be able to walk without braces. In a two-year period, between his wife and him, they had five brain surgeries in a two-year period. Again, thank you for this documentary on one of our local boys! [Edited to correct 1958 to 1959.]

What a great biography you have produced here. I live in and am a native of Vancouver, Washington which is a little less that 20 miles down river (that's the Columbia River) from Jimmie's hometown of Camas. I was about 11 years old when Honeycomb became a big hit and I do remember when the song was first being heard on the radio. It was a really big deal because Jimmie Rodgers was a local boy. Jimmie had such a great voice and we all loved his music and were very proud of him. I have known some facts about the tragedies that effected his life but you have added so much to that knowledge by the content of your video. Thank you so very much. I am going to share this video on Facebook as I think many local Clark County, Washington and Portland, Oregon people will enjoy it. His demeanor was that of a soft-spoken and well-mannered country boy who had made it to the top of the heap...and the music heap was very tall in those early years. Music was in his blood and he sang in many a small club but he broke through his small-town roots and jumped to the pop charts with one song..."Honeycomb." What happened in Los Angeles that night will forever be a mystery to many people but one thing is crystal clear...Jimmie Rodgers had made a mark in music...one that will never be erased. Just heard three of your biographies. Wish that you could play parts of their recordings as part of the story to help us recall with the emotional reaction to the songs. I know there are rights that you have to get from the owners who managed the singers, and in this case the mob would have likely given you a huge bill for doing such. But thank you. This man was full of integrity. Stayed with a sick wife even after she saying she loved another, etc., and seemed to be always faithful to those he was committed to. Perhaps he is still living. I hope and is very happy. He deserves it. He is a strong and respected person.

I always enjoy your content, Mr Skinner. Without fail you consistently craft well researched and informative stories, it's a pleasure and privilege to view your presentations. Thank you for this and all the other uploads I've enjoyed, very sad story about Jimmie. He was a great artist, talented with a unique tone in his voice. Incredibly cruel fate.

Talent and good looks are usually an advantage in life...but in his case, bad luck and poor choices canceled out those attributes.

It’s surprising how many times the LAPD has been caught being corrupt, yet they continue on without regular investigations. They are a disgrace. Best story teller ever. Really thorough and interesting.

Dear mr. Skinner thank you for bringing this to light. He was one of my dad's favorite singers and honeycomb is just one of the most beautiful little songs ever made. How tragic that this was done to him and that Hollywood just let it happen. Of course everybody was afraid of ending up like him I guess. Just like the guy who played Superman he didn't kill himself they know he didn't.

And Marilyn Monroe's death was covered up by Hollywood. And Natalie Wood, Carol Wayne. Hollywood has covered up a lot of murders, by altering evidence. Mob- connected Hollywood, I guess.

That's why Tommy James and the Shondells stayed with Roulette Records for as long as they did, the fear of what they did to Jimmy.

He spoke about it in his book. How messing with Levy, you could end up like Rodgers. He kept the artists on a short leash.

It sickens me to know the LAPD has become so morally corrupt. Jack Webb is spinning in his grave.
