Congratulations Doug on finding your first reale! There was plenty of buttons to go around that day and quite a variety. The puffy button was a blow hole and the dark shiny ones are tombacs.

Some nice finds there. Dougs half real looks awesome. Amazing when you think that the British only 'found' my country in 1770, and this coin was minted two years after that. Cheers

Farms are great spots because there not much modern trash and the earth gets turned over every decade or so. Soft digging and old targets might just be close to the surface.
