I actually somewhat knew Jim McMasters my father and his buddies did boat transport to the cranes at two races in Maryland all through the 80s the very early 90s and there were a racers that we had actually become kind of friendly with not just moving their boats and Jim was one of them. The same thing happened to them in Essex Maryland I wanna say it was like 88 or 89. I don’t think it was as close of a call of almost getting hit by other boats but it was definitely more disgusting. The races in Essex Maryland were done in Back River which is a very disgusting river because for decades the back river sewage plant has been dumping its waste in that river. i’m not even kidding you could actually see flakes of poo in the water
