Jamie changed things in her story, so Miles and Flora wouldn't know she was telling it about them. She said they won't find any place called Bly Manor, because that's not what it's really called. She changed the characters' names too, Miles, Owen, Henry etc all have different names in real life. But instead of changing the little girl's name completely, she used her real life middle name, Flora. The visual representation of this is the fact that everyone is played by different actors (with the kids it would make sence, but Owen for exaple was already a grown man, he wouldn't look like a totally different person just because some years passed by) She wanted to tell this story, but didn't want the kids to know it was about their own life, probably to protect them by not making them remember these traumatic events.

Danny’s eyes were not always two different colors. When she welcomed The Lady of the Lake/Viola into herself, one of her greens eyes turned brown. Viola had brown eyes (when she still had eyes lol). It symbolized that Danny’s possessed. It’s hard to see, the eyes change when she says “it’s you, it’s me, it’s us.” The camera zoomed in on her eyes and her left eye changed.

This wasn't only a ghost story...it was a tragic love story. LOVED it.

No, at the end jaimie wasn’t taken by Dani, it was just her spirit visiting her.

Actually from what I remember they left the ending scene ambiguous on purpose so that the ending would be up to the viewer. Just like The haunting of Hill House.

Both kids did spend a lot of time being possessed. It's hard to say just how much because Flora says in the attic that it took her a while to get the hang of dream hopping; she's sure Dani will pick it up faster. Since the au pair job listing was open for 6 months after Rebecca died, we don't know how frequently they were possessed leading up to that point. Peter and Rebecca must have spent time discussing the dream hopping "game" and the concept of the forever house. I think that helps lend credence to the kids forgetting most of that summer, aside from the general trauma of it all.

She brought Dani back in the end by telling her story, giving her a face!! Right on!

I think in general with Flanagan’s writing, it does us a disservice to be too precious about clear-cut logical “reasons” for things - not to hand-wave actual plot holes, of course, but so much of what happens in these works exists on multiple levels of metaphor, parallels, and allegory in order to serve the broader overarching theme. Personally, I think this story talks a lot about the baggage we carry with us, willingly or unwillingly, and how it drags us down in this life. How even “good” things can drag and weigh given enough time and enough changes in yourself and your goals. The adults in this story suffer and struggle due to what they carry with them; Hannah with her ex husband, Owen with his mother, Dani with Eddie, Rebecca with Peter, Henry with himself, Jamie with her trust issues, etc. Freeing the children from those terrifying memories - the baggage and trauma of Bly - makes all of Dani & co’s sacrifices feel more worth it, as their struggle allowed the next generation to move on, in a sense, from the cycles of trauma that quite literally haunted their predecessors. They alone get to enter the rest of their lives (relatively) unburdened. I think that is the best gift they could have given Dani in the end - if you remember from the bar scene in Ep 1, she says that she just wanted to make a real positive difference in a few children’s lives, and she ends up doing just that! Glad you all watched this one. Thanks for sharing.
