Hey everyone, thanks so much for checking out this video! I’m the actor working alongside Jesca Hoop in these scenes, just wanted to say this was such an awesome experience being part of this project, on set with our director Elia Petridis and the whole cast and crew ...a wonderful team for a brilliant, haunting piece of music

Thank you for all of these comments, very much appreciated!! It is deeply humbling to be part of something so meaningful here, our personal interpretations, which I feel are all so very relevant. Jesca Hoop also talks about this song on the record label’s website, in the 7th paragraph down: subpop.com/artists/jesca_hoop

I can't find appropriate words to say how deeply this song touched my soul... So sad, so beautiful... And this harmony... This is my greatest music discovery of last 20 years. Thank you, Jesca Hoop.

According to the artist: “I have a dear friend who was in a horrific accident that left him in a coma for two weeks. We thought we had lost him. He woke up to find himself silently divorced. This was a heartbreak for all related, and I wrote this while we were waiting for him to wake up. His experience drove me to explore my own relationship with abandonment. I think the cruel nature of life and love is something we all can relate to one way or the next. When you don’t have any say in how a relationship plays out, when you’re cut off, there’s a relentless loop that plays again and again in your own mind of those words that you would say… if love was fair enough to let you speak it. This song gives you that chance.”

Oh my. That is a sad, sad story. Yet, yes, so relatable, those core, deep feelings of grief that seem to lurk and bubble up behind even minor, less tragic disappointments.

This song stopped me dead in my tracks - I had to pull my car to the side of the road to listen to it. Thank you Jesca, thank you, thank you, thank you for this extraordinary music. A gift to the world. The video is fantastic, beautifully and perfectly aligned with the craftsmanship of the gorgeously written and produced music. The performances, writing, camera work, editing and direction for the video - all of the highest level. Moved me to the core. This calibre of artistry and vision gives me HOPE. Or shall I say.... Hoop? :)

it is amazing how well this matches the frenetic, desperate way that you feel and the way your thoughts twist and writhe when watching everything you have ever wanted and everything you built with someone crumble down around you in flames.

[Verse 1] I walk the dark star, the lost sky Searching for your signal, receive mine I called you cold and our tears became laughter Happy ever after Out of our secrets, we built a home Confide and fortify, blood, bone A love like ours comes 'round once in a lifetime Sending you a lifeline The bitter burn of a signal run cold You became the dark star and left me all alone A love like ours comes 'round once in a lifetime Sending you a lifeline The bitter burn of a signal run cold You became the dark star and left me all alone A love like ours comes 'round once in a lifetime Sending you a lifeline [Chorus] And when we said the words 'I love you' I said them 'cause they are true Why would you say those words to me If you could not follow through? Go wash your mouth out, child [Verse 2] I walk the dark star, the lost sky Searching for your signal, receive mine I called you cold and our tears became laughter Happy ever after Out of our secrets, we built a home Confide and fortify, blood, bone A love like ours comes 'round once in a lifetime Sending you a lifeline The bitter burn of a signal run cold You became the dark star and left me all alone A love like ours comes 'round once in a lifetime Sending you a lifeline [Chorus] And when we said the words 'I love you' I said them 'cause they are true Why would you say those words to me If you could not follow through? Go wash your mouth out, child [Verse 3] I walk the dark star, the lost sky Searching for your signal, receive mine I called you cold and our tears became laughter Happy ever after Out of our secrets, we built a home Confide and fortify, blood, bone A love like ours comes 'round once in a lifetime Sending you a lifeline The bitter burn of a signal run cold You became the dark star and left me all alone A love like ours comes 'round once in a lifetime Sending you a lifeline The bitter burn of a signal run cold You became the dark star and left me all alone A love like ours comes 'round once in a lifetime Sending you a lifeline And when we said... This track reminds me of the "racing thoughts" a lot of people with mental disabilities have. The kind that keep circling and circling depressing/upsetting things frantically in your head.

How does this video only have 28k views?? Awesome song....
Tom Reynolds Because it is not programmed to replay every three hours on top 10, humanless, money radio machines being controlled by cold, unfeeling people in an office in a building that never reaches the ground. This is not a part of the money machine that Adele fell into. Thank goodness! I love the free, independent thinkers of music. I love Of Monsters And Men, but you can have their tired, warn out too 40 hits. Give me their independent songs that will never make it to the loop, such as Yellow Light, Love Love Love. You can have Little Talks, it's burned out and overplayed.

I'm sitting in Starbucks on Derrick Avenue in Sarasota, Florida. Working on my computer. This plays in the background and for the first time in the hour I switch my attention from my computer to this woman's voice. I ask the Barista for the name. I go back to my computer. I'm in love with this track. Haunting. Great discovery tonight. Miss Jessica Hoop!
