THE REAL THREAT | The Word Exposed with Cardinal Tagle (September 29, 2024)
Today is the Twenty-sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time; and in the gospel, we will hear a valuable lesson, which we often forget.
The disciple John reports to Jesus how they prevented a man driving out demons in Jesus’s name because he does not belong to their group. But the Lord says: “Do not prevent him. There is no one who performs a mighty deed in my name who can at the same time speak ill of me. For whoever is not against us is for us.”
This remark is a good reminder to all of us. First, there is power in Jesus’s name. Secondly, none of us can claim a monopoly of the blessings that could come from the holy name of Jesus. We must share it, and be very glad when like us, others begin recognizing and believing in Jesus.
But why do we consider others as a threat? Just because they are outside our inner circle? The Lord tells us that the true threat comes from our sinfulness and from causing our brothers and sisters to sin.

Definitely the meaning of freedom is when I can do what I want to do is that of the demon .How are christians to drive demon out from that preaching?

In this gospel,the disciples are claiming exclusive power to exorcise.On the other hand Jesus is giving them commands to minister the word was God to drive out demon from the world
