Besides other mistakes the infect player made; he could animate the nexus and have distortion strike in upkeep or he could not because of teferi?

Exactly! That would normally be a line that infect players could use but Teferi forcing your opponent to only play cards at sorcery speed really messes up what infect is trying to do

hey, I got a shotout at the end of the video LOL! do you happen to play pioneer at the LGS? I was thinking about starting to play pioneer.

Sadly I'm not currently playing pioneer maybe I'll start again in the future since I have an ensoul artifact and an izzet phoenix deck. I know a couple people at the shop have decks as well. My schedule just doesn't work for going to the shop multiple times a week atm :)

Did they miss the exalted trigger on the push to 8 poison on game 2? You should have been at 9 infect that turn, not 8?

It is possible but I think the math worked out something like this, Current poison count 3, rot priest trigger on the mutagenic growth(+2+2) on inkmoth putting me to 4 poison. Move to combat inkmoth is a 3/3 becomes a 4/4 with the exalted trigger putting me at 8 infect damage. That's also on me for forgetting to put mutagenic growth up on screen, to make that line more clear :)

I don't think your opponent was very familiar with the deck, some of their decisions were quite subject. Keeping that blossoming in hand in the face of teferi was a headscratcher

Yeah I agree with that, that's also why I wanted to feature it so if anyone else wants to learn hopefully they can pick up tips. The blossoming defense is a tricky one, like yes you lose out on 2 extra damage but keeping the creature out is more beneficial IMO so you have to respond to the teferi cast otherwise you have no chance to react to the uptick in loyalty.
